Alex Jones: The One Show presenter speaks out on pregnancy news ‘I couldn’t enjoy it’

The One Show host Alex Jones, 42, is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Charlie Thomson. The presenter has been open about her struggles after the couple suffered a devastating miscarriage two years ago, but has since become pregnant again and admitted it was “completely different”. The BBC favourite revealed she couldn’t enjoy the pregnancy for some time because she couldn’t “relax”. Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph’s Stella magazine, Alex said: “You don’t let yourself relax. I couldn’t enjoy it for a long time and didn’t tell anyone for ages.”

The host already has two-year-old Teddy with her spouse.

It comes after Alex expressed concern over her current pregnancy as there was little movement from her unborn baby, but fortunately all was well.

She shared a picture of herself from a hospital bed with a monitor on her bump back in February.

In view of her 143,000 followers, she wrote: “Hadn’t felt much movement from the baby from a few days so lying here being monitored.

“If in doubt mammas, always check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat.”

Meanwhile, on a recent episode of The One Show, Alex admitted she had been “sacked” from loads of jobs prior to her appearance on her current programme.

She was joined on the sofa by co-presenter Matt Baker and the pair interviewed Howard Donald from Take That.

The hitmaker told the hosts he used to do a paper round before finding global fame with Take That.

He revealed he had got “three strikes” in a month which led him to be sacked.

Alex said: “I was sacked from lots of early jobs, don’t worry it’s [a rite of] passage.”

Matt then jokingly replied: “You’re doing alright with this one though.”

Agreeing with her co-star, she responded: “Aye, I’m alright here.”

Laughing, Matt replied: “You’ve been here for quite a while.”

Alex joined The One Show in 2010 when she replaced former presenter Christine Lampard.

Prior to this the Welsh star, she was a presenter on BBC Choice followed by Welsh television channel S4C.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
