Sky Sports F1 pundit makes Max Verstappen to Mercedes or Ferrari revelation

Verstappen is under contract to Red Bull until the end of the 2020 season – the same point in which Liberty Media are planning huge changes to the sport.

The 21-year-old Dutchman is trying to become the youngster ever world champion this year.

But other team principals may have one eye on Verstappen come the end of next term.

“There is nothing wrong with confidence and the way Max goes about his business,” Di Resta told Sky Sports F1.

“I think every team principle would love to have him.

“I think Christian [Horner] has the benefit of that, he is not feared of anyone.”

Ahead of this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg labelled Verstappen a “narcissist”.

But the youngster’s camp are not worried about the defamation.

“I spoke to Max’s manager just after lunch and they are not even bothered about what Nico said to be honest,” Di Resta added.

“They are just purely said he is not scared and will do whatever it takes to win.

“Until that point, he will continue to keep pushing the levels.

“Lewis even said that there is a little bit of fear in there in a one-on-one fight.”

Meanwhile, fellow pundit Anthony Davidson has called for Verstappen’s team-mate Pierre Gasly to improve on his season-opening 11th-placed finish.

“Gasly is really up against it,” he said.

“He had a terrible weekend to kick start his Red Bull career. He has got to bounce back and it’s hard to really hang on to [last year’s result].

“Getting out in Q1 is not what you want in a top three car.”
