Game of Thrones season 8: Is THIS the moment Bran Stark reveals his true intentions?

Game of Thrones viewers don’t have long until the eighth season of the HBO hit arrives on screens.

And as the anticipation of its arrival continues to rise, brand new photos have been released showing off what looks like Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) arrival at Winterfell.

Viewers last saw the new couple travelling via ship to Jon’s home, and many viewers have been theorising over what exactly is going to happen when they arrive.

And the new images may have shown off a darker side of Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), who is now the Three-Eyed Raven.

The exciting HBO and Sky Atlantic stills depict Jon and Daenerys receiving a not-so-warm welcome from his siblings Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Bran.

But while Sansa looks defiant in her choice of stature and demeanour, Bran has taken on a different stance.

One image shows off Bran sitting by a fire inside the keep with a wolf-skin cloak around his shoulder, staring coldly at whomever is standing opposite him.

While this look could be directed at anyone on the show, the following image shows Daenerys in what looks like the same room with a very nervous expression on her face.

The Mother of Dragons usually goes into any altercation confident, and powerful – however, as fans will know, Bran has the power to literally see through space and time.

Could this be the moment Bran demonstrates his monstrous power to Daenerys? Or could it be the beginning of Bran’s rumoured descent into darkness to become the series’ ultimate villain the Night King?

And what better way to show off how his powers work than to reveal exactly who Jon is to the Queen?

Although Bran certainly has the power to do almost anything he wants at the moment, it doesn’t seem like he is worried about who will ultimately win the war.

This revelation may be what tips Daenerys over the edge as she realises exactly who she is dealing with – but will she be okay with working alongside the Three Eyed Raven?

Meanwhile the finale of the show was recently the topic of discussion for author George RR Martin.

The cryptic writer explained the show’s ending may have changed since he originally wrote it.

Speaking to Rolling Stone he explained: “The major points of the ending will be things I told them five or six years ago.”

He went on to add: “But there may also be changes, and there’ll be a lot added.”

Although fans do not know anything about either of the endings which have been written, it is interesting George’s original plan has been changed.

But could the changes be drastic and life-ending, or simply minor?

Game of Thrones season eight returns April 14 to HBO, and the next day on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
