Former FBI Director James Comey drops Trump BOMBSHELL in interview with Lester Holt

Robert Mueller’s report recently cleared the President of any collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential election. However, according to Attorney General Bill Barr’s summary, it “did not draw a conclusion – one way or the other – as to whether the examined conduct constituted obstruction”. In an interview on NBC’s Nightly News with Lester Holt, Mr Comey made the astonishing remark that his own firing may have constituted obstruction.

After the President fired Mr Comey, he said on the same show: “When I decided to just do it, I said to myself: this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made up story.”

Mr Comey said these words appear to reveal that Trump fired him to stop the investigation into potential Russian collusion.

He added that he “hopes” someone will dress this.

The former FBI chief told Mr Holt: “I thought that’s potentially obstruction of justice. And I hope someone is going to look at that.

“Again, the President appears to be saying – I don’t know what’s in his head which is which is why I can’t reach the conclusion – but what he appears to be saying is ‘I got rid of this guy to shut down an investigation that threatened me.”

Despite the Mueller report not deciding either way whether to exonerate the President of obstruction or not, Trump claimed he was fully vindicated.

He said triumphantly on Twitter: “No collusion, no obstruction, complete and total exoneration.

“Keep America great!”

In an interview with CNN after the Mueller’s conclusion was announced, Trump said the accusation of collusion was “the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard”.

He added: “There was no obstruction, none whatsoever.”

Trump also branded the whole investigation an “illegal takedown that failed”.

The President was interviewed by Sean Hannity on Fox News on Wednesday night to “react” to the Mueller report.
