Barcelona transfer news: Antoine Griezmann issues statement on latest transfer saga

The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Catalunya for several years.

Last summer, Griezmann’s future seemed destined to lie at the Nou Camp as he was stalling on signing a new contract.

The former Real Sociedad ace eventually penned a new one-year deal with Atletico which will keep him in the Spanish capital until the summer of 2023.

Griezmann’s new contract hasn’t stopped rumours of a future move to Barca, though, and have greatly irked the 28-year-old.

“I’m already used to it and a little bit fed up, every year it’s the same, so I’m used to it,” he told Univision when asked about the latest reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

Griezmann’s comments on the speculation surrounding his future come a few days after Barca defender Samuel Umtiti claimed his fellow countryman regretted not joining the Spanish champions last summer.

“In our careers, we have to take decisions that we sometimes regret,” Umtiti told Telefoot.

“I would be glad if Griezmann came to Barcelona, he has a place here.

“I know Antoine is very happy in Madrid and that he is very well there.

“He is at a team that plays for him.”

Griezmann and his Atletico team-mates will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, travelling to the Basque Country to face Alaves.

Barcelona will also be in action this Saturday, taking on their local rivals Espanyol at the Nou Camp.
