Apple News+ announced – Apple's magazine subscription service revealed

Apple News+ builds on the foundation laid by the original software when it debuted in iOS 9 back in 2015.

The service can be accessed from a new tab within the Apple News app.

Apple has insisted News+ will feature over 300 magazines that include Esquire, National Geographic, Men’s Health and more.

The service will also provide access to a number of more traditional news outlet such as The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and the Toronto Star.

Apple News+’s biggest appeal appears to be accessing a wealth of journalism from one place.

The tech giant has emphasised all magazine content has been optimised for viewing on iPhone, iPad and Mac hardware.

Commenting on the announcement, Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News, said: “We’re committed to supporting quality journalism, and with Apple News+, we want to celebrate the great work being done by magazines and news outlets.

“We think the breadth and quality of publications within Apple News+ will encourage more people to discover stories and titles they may never have come across before.”

The service costs $9.99 per month in the US and $12.99 in Canada.

Apple News+ will only be available in the two regions initially.

However, the Cupertino-based company has confirmed the service will come to the UK and Australia later this year.

No precise release date was revealed at this time.
