Debbie McGee: Strictly star recalls awkward NAKED moment amid trip with Paul Daniels

Debbie McGee, 60, giggled as she recalled a time she had “stripped off” in a toilet, but was swiftly interrupted by an unlikely creature. Debbie spilled all when discussing toilet stories on her self-titled radio show on BBC Radio Berkshire this morning. She said: “We were on holiday in the Seychelles and we was on this little boat with loads of other people.” After exploring, Debbie said her and Paul headed back to the boat, but she needed the toilet.

After finding a toilet, she explained: “I opened the door and it was quite big.

“The opposite side was like a big shelf with just a toilet seat in the middle and you had to go up two big steps to get to it.”

She added the environment wasn’t very clean so decided to “strip off” and hang her clothes on the door.

She continued: “I go to do my business standing up because it was all horrid, then there is a noise at the door and somebody is coming in.

“It doesn’t lock so I’m thinking ‘Oh My God, here I am standing on this platform naked and there’s someone coming in the door.

“And who was it, what was it? It was an enormous tortoise! It had got its head around the door and pushed the door open and came in.”

Debbie’s husband Paul passed away in 2016 age 77 following a brain tumour.

A year later, the former magician’s assistant competed on Strictly Come Dancing with Giovanni Pernice, 28.

The Strictly finalist recently opened up on being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Debbie said she believes the cancer was brought on from stress of losing Paul.

She told The Sun: “Stress, I think caused mine. I’ve never been through the stress I’ve been through since I lost Paul.

“Grief hits you in so many ways you’re not expecting. It’s not all about sadness.”

Debbie underwent an operation in January to remove two tumours.

Her former Strictly partner Giovanni has since revealed she “is fine”.

He told Hello! Magazine this week: “She came to watch my show on the West End last week and she is fine. She is now absolutely fine.”

Giovanni added: “I spoke to her and everything is under control.

“She goes to the doctor every single week. Everything is sorted and she is much better now.”
