Susanna Reid: Good Morning Britain host 'ups home security' after 'devastating' burglaries

Susanna Reid, 48, has invested in “state-of-the-art alarms” for her home after being targeted by thieves twice in a month. The Good Morning Britain host’s South London property, which she shares with her sons – Sam, 16, Finn, 14 and Jack, 13, was first raided last month. Family possessions, including one of her son’s belongings, were stolen from her home, as well as her car. Thousands of pounds worth of electronics were snatched in the second raid, however, police did not identify any suspects.

Since the robberies, Susanna, who hosts the ITV series with Piers Morgan, is said to have “spared no expense on home security”, including state-of-the-art alarms.

A source told The Sun: “Being burgled once is bad enough, but having to relive it again for a second time is devastating.

“She has spared no expense on home security including state-of-the-art alarms.”

The insider warned: “Any burglar should now think twice about trying their luck.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Susanna Reid for comment.

On February 11 thieves entered Susanna’s home, without any sign of forced entry, and stole family belongings.

At the time, police said: “As there were no suspects or CCTV images, the investigation was closed.”

Her vehicle was also stolen and recovered nearby, however, no forensic clues were found, so police took no further action.

Susanna was burgled again last Monday, with police reporting “access was apparently gained via a window.”

Up until last year, the mother-of-three lived with her former partner, Dominic Cotton, who she separated with in 2014.

The two continued to live with one another until she began dating Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Susanna was previously burgled in Christmas 2010, while the presenter and her family slept upstairs.

Burglars made off with her car, an Apple iPad and iPhone and the 32in television, which she had bought that Christmas.

She commented on the robbery on Twitter, penning: “Burgled. I woke up in the middle of the night, which is so unusual for me, and couldn’t sleep for an hour or so. I’m just so relieved I didn’t bump into them.

“They swept up a few valuable items and made a dash. Thankfully they didn’t take anything of great personal value – or the children’s Christmas toys.’

“We found out we had been burgled when our six-year-old son came upstairs and said: ‘Daddy, where’s the TV?’

“The boys know what happened, but they are not too concerned. They were just excited about the police coming round and dusting for fingerprints.

“Really, the thieves just took hardware and technical stuff, nothing that can’t be replaced. It’s a bit frustrating they took our battered old Vauxhall, as we use it to get around.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am.
