Star Wars 9: These TWO characters will team up ‘so much more’, actor confirms

Episode 9 of the Star Wars saga – the final part of the Skywalker story – is due for release at the end of this year. Since filming finished last month, fans have been on tenterhooks waiting for news on the title, trailer, or when further plot details might be unveiled. For now, we have one more tiny morsel of information from one of the headline stars, Oscar Isaac.

Doing the rounds for his new movie Triple Frontier, the actor told Metro that there’s one person he’ll be teamed up with much more: John Boyega’s Finn.

The pair spent a lot of screen-time together in Episode 7, The Force Awakens, which was also helmed by director JJ Abrams.

Now, it seems, their stories will end in tandem.

“I think the one thing I can say is that [Episode 9] has been the most fun for me,” he said of the process.

“Particularly working with John Boyega because we have just had so much more to do together and we just really connected in a great way.

“It was really a wonderful way to finish it for me because John was the first person I met right when I screen-tested. It was just with me and him.

“So it just felt like a real full-circle thing.”

Isaac also spoke of his experience of playing the same character for a number of years.

Asked about the “family reunion” feeling of being back in London after shooting some of Episode 9 here, he said: “It absolutely is. To the point that when we were finishing, the thought that, ‘Oh my God, that’s it, we are not going to be together like this again, ever’ was really emotional.

“I never did a TV show or anything where I had a recurring role — and you don’t know where the story is going but you know you are in it.

“It was a big challenge. But it’s also really fun to have three films to develop a character over.”

Isaac has also revealed that Anthony Daniels’ C-3PO has a slightly more prominent role this time around.

Star Wars: Episode 9 is out on December 19 in the UK.
