Netflix released The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann on Netflix on Friday (March 15). The Madeleine McCann documentary features Brian Kennedy, a tycoon who donated money into the initial search for the missing child. Who is Brian Kennedy?
Brian Kennedy is a Cheshire-based businessman who helped fund the initial search for Madeleine McCann.
According to The Guardian, among the things he paid for was the salary of Clarence Mitchell, who became the spokesperson for the family in September 2007.
The Mirror also reported that Kennedy paid for private detectives to help find the toddler.
According to numerous reports, he even flew his private jet to Morocco after a reported sighting.

In the documentary, he says of meeting the McCanns: “They both looked like a wreck.
“After 12 seconds just reading the emotions everything told me 100 per cent that this woman is genuine – she is a victim.”

Brian Kennedy is also the owner of finance firm Latium Enterprises.

Prior to this, he began his work life as a trainee accountant before working in management for a kitchen equipment company before heading into roles in the mobile phone, double-glazing and plastics industries.
According to The Telegraph, his net worth at the time of Madeleine’s disappearance was £250 million.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Kennedy said of why he decided to help the family: “I was incredulous.
“I’d been losing all hope and faith in human nature.

I had been asking myself, ‘How is this possible?’ [Kate] is grieving.
“My instincts were telling me there was a great injustice being done.
“I called my lawyer and said, ‘I want you to reach out to these poor folks and see if we can help them’.”
Kennedy has not revealed how much money he put into the hunt for Madeleine, though he told The Telegraph it was a “substantial” sum, mostly spent on legal and media costs.
