Sweden explosion: Malmö Nightclub closed after HUGE blast heard in city

The Etage club, on Stortorget, central Malmö, has been cordoned off amid reports that several heard a heavy bang at around 12am (GMT). According to SVT’s Mikael Nilsson the whole square has been blocked following the explosions. The latest report of explosions comes hours after more bangs were heard in the city.

Mr Nilsson said: “Police have blocked the entire Stortorget.

“Bomb technician is on the way to the site to ensure that there is nothing dangerous left there that can explode.”

SVT reports the cause of the explosion is unclear but the technician arrived roughly an hour later.

The site was then investigated.

At approximately 7pm (GMT), police were called to another explosion – this time in Hyllie.

Reports suggest the explosion was at the entrance of a multi-family house, which was destroyed.

Police considered that incident to be an act of vandalism caused by a form of firework.

A witness told daily newspaper Sydsvenskan: “I heard a big bang outside the window.

“The house shook and when I looked out it was a lot of smoke.

“A gate is full of broken glass.

“It is very unpleasant.”

The newspaper added that there had been no information about whether anyone was injured during the incident.
