In a clip which Gemma Atkinson, 34, shared with her 934,000 Instagram followers earlier today, she could be seen shaking hands with Prince Charles, 70, at the star-studded charity event as she and Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez, 28, sat in the audience at the ceremony, filming the big screen. An announcer could then be heard introducing her, saying: “Gemma is an actress and best known for starring in the soap opera Hollyoaks a good few years ago now, also on Emmerdale, and appeared on Strictly, of course, where she met new now fiancé Gorka Marquez. Gemma and Gorka recently announced that they are expecting their first child together later this year.”
In the background, Gorka’s voice sounded surprised at being referred to as Gemma’s “fiancé”, exclaiming: “Fiancé? I didn’t know that!”
Gorka’s reaction implied they weren’t actually engaged and fans flocked to the Instagram comments section to share their responses to the hilarious video.
“OMG! This made me belly laugh. Gorka’s voice, ‘I didn’t know that!’”(sic) one said, while another added: “Haha Gorka I think that’s a hint right there.”(sic)
“Ah bless, even the announcer is trying to get you wifed up,”(sic) a third quipped.
A fourth joked: “Biggest push ever… c’mon Gorks… make that statement real.”(sic)
Gemma and Gorka met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, when she was partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, 28, and he was paired with Alexandra Burke, 30.
They hit it off during the course of the series and were soon denying rumours they were more than friends.
After the Strictly live tour in early 2018, the pair confirmed their relationship when they jetted off on a romantic holiday together.
The couple have been going from strength to strength ever since and announced they are expecting their first child together last month.
Gorka has been a member of the professional line-up on Strictly since 2016.
Gemma flaunted her blossoming baby bump at the Prince’s Trust Awards last night when they took to the red carpet at the event, which honours the achievements of young people supported by the charity.
Opting for a sophisticated patterned full-length dress with an empire line design which emphasised her bump, the actress put on a loved-up display with Spanish dancer Gorka.
She wore her golden tresses pulled back in a ban and accessorised with silver statement earrings and a silver clutch bag.
The fitness fanatic added modest nude stiletto court shoes to the elegant ensemble.
She completed the look with polished, dewy make-up and subtle smokey eyes.
Her beau, meanwhile, looked dapper in a sharp navy suit and dress shoes with a matching as they beamed for photographers.
