Tom Jones wife: How Lady Linda ‘saw more of the HOUSEKEEPER than her own husband’

Tom Jones’ musical career has spanned six decades after he rose to fame in the mid-60s. The Welsh singer has graced his fans with a string of top hits and his voice has been described as a “full-throated, robust baritone”. But while the Sex Bomb singer enjoyed being in the spotlight, his wife of almost 60 years, Linda, stayed firmly out of sight.

In fact, Linda, born Melinda Trenchard, was never seen at any of her husband’s concerts and didn’t even join him at Buckingham Palace when he collected his knighthood in 2006.

She preferred to live anonymously residing at their luxury home in Beverly Hills while he toured the world, a biographer claimed.

Tom Jones’s biographer Sean Smith told the Daily Mail in 2015: “They have been married for more than 50 years, but probably have only spent ten years in each other’s company.

“Linda has her housekeeper and gardener and she sees more of them than anyone else.

“She hasn’t flown in years and is unlikely to come back to the UK again.

“When Tom is back in LA they are an elderly retired couple in their 70s — having gentle drives and enjoying reading in the sunshine and TV, like a million other pensioners.”

In a recent interview with the music legend, Sir Tom Jones opened up about how he blamed himself for his beloved wife’s tragic death.

The Voice judge revealed the lyrics of wife Linda’s favourite song made him feel he “could have done more”.

Her favourite song was Bob Dylan’s ‘What Good Am I?’, a song which Sir Tom has performed countless times.

In an interview with The Mirror, he said: “I was reading into the lyrics thinking: ‘Jesus Christ, was I partly to blame?’”

The 78-year-old singer, who met Linda at high school in Pontypridd, Wales continued: “That song is the one I was scared of. She loved it.

“It’s like, ‘why couldn’t I have stopped it?’ Should I have woken up before?’

“You start to think, ‘what if I had forced her to go to the doctors?’ Because she didn’t go.

“You think ‘s***, maybe I should have said she had to.’ So that song is very touching.”

After the death of his wife in 2016, the music legend took some time off but is currently back in the spotlight as a judge on the popular talent show The Voice UK.

On Saturday, Tom Jones, together with his fellow judges, is tasked with narrowing down their final six contestants to two during the tough round.
