Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal ‘would lead to CANNIBALISM’ -Fox News columnist

Ms Timpf accused Ms Ocasio-Cortez of “completely losing her marbles” and living in “bananaland” when dissecting her speech at a New York City event last week. She said: “Earlier this week she called herself ‘the boss’ for coming up with the Green New Deal. How are you ‘the boss’ for coming up with a plan that doesn’t work? I can come up with plenty of plans that don’t work. How about we fly around on unicorns instead of aeroplanes?”

Ms Timpf continued to criticise the deal by suggesting it would lead to a “dystopian America” where people will end up “reliving the Donner Party”.

The Donner Party was a group of American pioneers who turned to cannibalism after becoming snowbound in the Sierra Nevada in 1846.

Ms Timpf added: “I don’t want to eat people, Greg, and I don’t want people to eat me.”

The columnist had previously accused Ocasio-Cortez of being “ridiculous” in the National Review.

She added that she believes the deal to be “so impractical she might as well have put forward nothing at all.”

But Ms Ocasio-Cortez rejected similar criticisms of the Green New Deal on Twitter Saturday, writing: “I also fly planes and use A/C. Living in the world as it is isn’t an argument against working towards a better future.”

“The Green New Deal is about putting a lot of people to work in developing new technologies, building new infrastructure, and getting us to 100 percent renewable energy.”

The speech she made at a recent “Girls who Code” event focused on the importance of trying to succeed in the face of adversity.

She said: “The power is in the person who’s trying, regardless of the success.

“I just introduced the Green New Deal and it’s creating all of this conversation. Why? Because no one else has even tried.

“People are like, ‘Oh, it’s unrealistic, oh, it’s vague, oh, it doesn’t address this little minute thing,’ and I’m like, ‘You try—you do it. Because you’re not. So, until you do it, I’m the boss. How about that?”

The Green New Deal proposal intends to eliminate greenhouse gas pollution in the US over the next decade while also addressing inequality with a job guarantee program.

The proposal has gathered support from politicians running in the 2020 presidential primary such as Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
