The romantic comedy, fronted by Rebel Wilson, has been released internationally today on Netflix following a cinematic release in the US. Chopra plays Isabella, a yoga ambassador, and spoke recently in a TV interview about why she was “scared” by the prospect of shooting one particular scene. Despite her many talents, it seems there’s still one thing that she can’t quite master.
“Karaoke scares the c**p out of me for some reason,” she told Jimmy Fallon.
Sure enough there is one great scene in the movie in which she has to perform.
“I can be on stage dancing or whatever, but karaoke is like reading the teleprompter and trying to perform.
“I end up reading it, you know? [Robotic voice] ‘So you… wanna dance… with somebody…’”
She added: “I was terrible at karaoke.
“But I was very good at faking it in the movie!”
Isn’t It Romantic also stars Rebel Wilson and Liam Hemsworth, and has picked up generally positive reviews from critics.
It makes a point of poking fun at romantic comedy cliches, whilst also providing a warmth of its own.
The film has a 69% score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating generally favourable reviews.
The consensus reads: “It follows as many genre conventions as it mocks, but Isn’t It Romantic is a feel-good rom-com with some satirical bite – and a star well-suited for both.”
Chopra Jonas’ has an upcoming role in The Sky Is Pink, as well as Chris Pratt action film Cowboy Ninja Viking.
