India-Pakistan SHOCK: Pakistan ambassador accuses US of ENCOURAGING Indian airstrikes

Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan believes the US “encouraged” the airstrike and their lack of outright condemnation has emboldened India. The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, told the two nuclear powers to exercise restraint and avoid escalation after India’s airstrike on Tuesday. However, his official statement did not explicitly condemn the actions.

The Indian airstrikes targeted an alleged militant training camp in Balakot but Pakistan claimed the camp did not exist.

Mr Khan told reporters in Washington the US response was “construed and understood as an endorsement of the Indian position, and that is what emboldened them even more”.

He said Pakistan wants “dialogue” with India and not war but mentioned that the Prime Minister has allowed Pakistan’s army to respond “decisively and comprehensively to any aggression.”

Mr Khan also highlighted that Pakistan has made a “sincere” offer to investigate the deadly February 14 suicide bombing in Kashmir that influenced India’s airstrike.

The European Union is now urging India and Pakistan to “exercise utmost restraint” after attacks in Kashmir.

EU Foreign Policy Chief, Federica Mogherini, warned: “This has the potential to lead to serious and dangerous consequences for the two countries and the wider region.”

Germany has also called for dialogue between the two powers as its Foreign Minister said they are watching the developments “with great concern”.

While Turkey also expressed concerns over the rising tensions.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited Indian Prime Minister to discuss de-escalating the tensions between the two regions, it has been reported.

Mr Khan said war will not benefit either nation and Pakistan is “ready to cooperate” and “find a solution”.

He added that he intended to help find out who was behind the suicide attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed more than 40 Indian troops.

India has not yet commented on whether they will attend peace talks with Pakistan.
