Finally, the news that horror fans have been waiting for, Netflix has turned The Haunting of Hill House into an anthology series and bringing it back in 2020. The streamer announced the news via Twitter last week, revealing that the acclaimed series sophomore season will be titled The Haunting of Bly Manor. Here’s everything you need to know.
When is The Haunting season 2 released on Netflix?
The Haunting has been renewed for a second anthology-style series at Netflix.
The series will arrive back on screens in 2020 but a specific release date has not been announced by the streaming giant.
The renewal comes on the success of The Haunting of Hill House which debuted on the site last October.
Completely terrifying, the show was an automatic hit, generating a huge following online.
It currently holds a 92 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes having been widely praised.
The critics’ consensus reads: “The Haunting of Hill House is an effective ghost story whose steadily mounting anticipation is just as satisfying as its chilling payoff.”

So it is no surprise that Netflix has chosen to bring the concept back for another nail-biting run.
Creator and director Mike Flanagan will be retelling to work on season two alongside producer Trevor Macy.
Deadline reported that Netflix’s VP of Original Content Cindy Holland said of the renewal: “Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats, but unable to look away.
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on The Haunting series and future projects to come.”

What is the plot of The Haunting season 2?
While season one was based the novel The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, season two looks to a new novel for inspiration.
The Haunting season two takes on a completely new horror story, Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw.
The Turn of the Screw is an 1898 horror novella which follows a governess who, caring for two children at a remote estate, becomes convinced that the grounds are haunted.
It has been adapted numerous time, the most notable examples being the 1961 movie The Innocents and a 2009 BBC film.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Flanagan said: “It was about identifying the elements, characters, moments and even chunks of prose from the book that I really loved and taking all those pieces and trying to build something different out of the same ingredients.“

Who is in the cast of The Haunting season 2?
No casting details have been confirmed for season two yet.
Season one followed the Crain family and starred Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, and Victoria Pedretti.
The anthology format could mean that the same actors will be cast in the roles in the American Horror Story tradition, or Flanagan may decide on a whole new cast.
