Richard Osman: Pointless star TOWERS over singer girlfriend as they’re seen for FIRST time

Richard Osman and girlfriend Sumudu Jayatilaka looked loved-up as they strolled through London together recently, in the first pictures of them together since their romance came to light. The Pointless presenter towered above the pint-sized singer as they walked hand-in-hand during a low-key outing. The 48-year-old towered above the jazz musician and Ronnie Scott’s star, 39, who stands at 5ft 2in to his 6ft 7in. It comes after the small screen regular split from Absolute radio host Emily Dean back in 2017.

Sumudu was seen looking up at her beau while wrapped up in a chic black coat, with furry collar and patent buttons.

The star added a skinny pair of jeans and heeled boots, however their 17 inch height difference was still impossible to miss.

She also carried a simple bag on her shoulder and appeared to be wearing little make-up during her time off with her man.

Meanwhile, Richard teamed faded black denim trousers with a navy jumper and trainers.

He also sported a chunky, khaki coat and dark-rimmed spectacles, and opted against gloves unlike his companion.

“We met through mutual friends. I just looked down and there she was,” he told the Daily Mail’s Sebastian Shakespeare.

Richard continued: “I’m always looking down because everybody is short to me.”

But he insisted: “We don’t really notice the height difference, though.”

Sumudu previously made an appearance on the Pointless Christmas special last December, when she performed.

She has also sung with the likes of Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick and Elvis Costello, after making her TV debut at 15.

She performed one of her own songs at the time before studying medicine at university and joining the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.

The pictures come just days after their relationship was revealed after they were spotted at the “Sports Quiz You Can’t Google” at James Blunt’s pub in the capital.

A source previously told The Sun: “People joke because he’s a bit of a giant and she’s around 5ft nothing. But it seems like they were made for each other.”

The publication also said Sumudu revealed: “We’re very happy,” while attending the event together.

Richard, who has fronted Pointless since 2009, was previously married but separated from the mother of his two teenage children 12 years ago.

Pointless airs weekdays at 5.10pm on BBC One.
