Baptiste on BBC: How many episodes are in Baptiste?

Fans of The Missing are looking enjoyed the premiere of spin-off series Baptiste last Sunday (February 17). The series follows French detective Julien Baptiste, (played by Tchéky Karyo) who first appeared in The Missing series one and two. Episode two will air tonight (February 24) following the shocking series premiere. 

How many episodes are in Baptiste?

Baptiste contains just six episodes but is set to be a dense and gripping watch.

Just the title of episodes one to three have been released by the BBC so far.

The Amsterdam setting is described as “both the backdrop and a veneer, and Julien Baptiste must search its narrow alleyways and its basements and canals, to uncover the dark side of the city”.

The end of season two of The Missing saw the character Baptiste on the operating table, the action picks up after viewers discover he has survived and “ready to tackle more challenges,” according to Karyo.

“The DNA of The Missing series one and two is still rooted in the story of Baptiste,” the French actor explained.

“We are still very much in the same world as The Missing but we see things through the eyes of Julien.”

What is the plot of Baptiste?

The synopsis for Baptiste reads: “Julien Baptiste is staying in Amsterdam where his daughter has recently had a child.

“Forever under their feet and restless, he is invited to meet up with old flame Martha Horchner (Barbara Sarafian), the chief of police in Amsterdam.

“But this isn’t a lunch to catch up on old times – she wants his help to find a missing girl, Natalie (Anna Prochniak), the niece of Englishman Edward Stratton (Tom Hollander).

When asked why viewers should tune into Baptiste, Karyo said: “Baptiste is a show that has a lot of depth and it is always good to see the characters growing and developing and continue the adventure of The Missing. Although a different show it still has The Missing at its core.”

Episode two will see Natalie reveals the full shocking truth about Edward.
