Due to the fantastical nature of the series, it of course involves a lot of behind-the-scenes work to create the impressive effects.
But during the process of making Game of Thrones some of the stunts could be a little daunting.
Previous supervisor Michelle Blok worked on season six and seven of the HBO epic, and has divulged just what it took to get Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) looking like she was really riding a dragon.
In particular, she reflected on just how big the model dragon was that the actress had to get on top of.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk at the VFX Festival, Michelle revealed: “It’s very vertigo inducing because it is really high.
“It’s really hard to describe to people because I thought, you see the dragons on TV you think ‘that’s not big’ and when you see a full scale model of the dragon torso…it’s high.
“And they are climbing up on this thing and it’s just like ‘that is crazy’. Because we have to lift it up in the air to put it on the motion base and then we have to put cameras that are really low coming out…she [Emilia Clarke] she was thirty feet in the air.
“It’s just so scary. And then the thing starts moving.”
Although Daenerys and the rest of Jon Snow’s (Kit Harington) crew managed to escape from the Night King in the season seven Frozen Lake scene, she did lose a dragon in the process.
Viserion fell to the hands of the Night King when he managed to slay the beast with a spear.
He was then resurrected by the leader of the undead army as they pulled him up from beneath the ice.
Viewers last saw Viserion knocking down part of the Wall as the army advanced southwards, posing a major threat to those in Westeros.
The fight against the White Walkers and wights looks set to dominate the final season.
But someone who doesn’t seem so concerned with the massive danger is Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) who wouldn’t send her armies toward the North.
She had no interest in helping Jon and Daenerys, even after seeing a wight with her very own eyes.
The Queen’s shocking decision led Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) to leave his sister and lover behind as he went onwards to help the cause.
One interesting thing set to unfold in the finale is the matter of Cersei’s pregnancy, if she is really with child.
While she told Jaime she was once again carrying a child of theirs, some weren’t convinced she really is pregnant, rumours which have been fuelled by recent character shots which don’t show Cersei with a prominent bump.
However, other viewers think it’s possible that the baby does survive, but that it will act as a sacrifice to the White Walkers.
As fans will know, Craster (Robert Pugh) gave his sons away to them in order to protect himself and his wildling daughter-wives.
However, it remains to be seen just what will happen with Cersei and if she’ll survive the no doubt brutal final series.
