BBC News: ‘How very dare you!’ Carol Kirkwood stunned by Naga Munchetty’s cheeky remark

Carol Kirkwood, 56, made an appearance on several occasions throughout this morning’s edition of BBC Breakfast, informing viewers at home about the weather they can expect over the coming days.

The weather presenter was reporting from RHS Wisley in Woking, Surrey, in correlation with fragrant February, a time in the year where the scent of flowers are much stronger than usual due to the warmer weather.

Handing over to Carol early on in the programme, BBC host Naga Munchetty, 43, couldn’t help put make a cheeky remark about fragrant February in reference to Carol.

Although Carol laughed off the remark, she jokingly hit back at the presenter as the two often tease one another during their interaction on the programme.

Lining up the weather forecast, Naga told her co-host Dan Walker, 41: “I said it was fragrant February. That’s the tongue twister of mine this morning and Carol is at RHS Wisley in Woking in Surrey.

“I hope you’re smelling fresh alongside the flowers? Morning,” Naga said to Carol, with the trio bursting into laughter over the remark.

With Dan telling Naga that Carol always smells fragrant, the meteorologist continued to chuckle away and then joked: “Naga, how very dare you!”

Carol continued with the rest of the weather report, but towards the end of the forecast, began discussing the conditions in Tanzania, as Dan will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in the coming weeks in aid of Comic Relief.

As the conditions begin to warm up in the UK, Carol said: “Now talking of temperatures, Dan, you’re off to Kilimanjaro soon so, to give you a rough idea of the kind of weather you can expect, at base camp 20 degrees, a few showers, still quite warm.

“But if you rush up Kilimanjaro at the top, you’re likely to have snow showers as the temperature will be minus six although with the wind chill, it will feel like minus 14.”

Naga then asked Carol about her willingness to take part in the climb: “Carol, are you pleased you’re not doing this this year?”

Overjoyed, Carol threw her arms in the air in jubilation before quickly putting on a stern face and answering “Yes” before chuckling away again.

Seeing Carol’s reaction, Naga told Dan: “That’s how I feel inside,” voicing her reluctance to take part due to the freezing temperatures.

Though Dan asked her: “You would love to do it, wouldn’t you?” to which Naga replied: “I would and I said that to you, it’s on my bucket list.

“Carol thank you for the data, but when temperatures like that come through, you know I’m a wimp. When it comes to the cold, I’m terrible.”

This morning’s edition of the show will be Dan’s last for the next couple of weeks, but he informed Naga he would be keeping the BBC Breakfast team updated with his progress on the climb.

During his last appearance with Louise Minchin, 50, yesterday, Dan clashed with his co-host over one of the news reports they were discussing.

Reading the days newspaper headlines, Louise showed her co-host an image of a great white shark with Dan referring to the aquatic creature as a “bad boy”.

Unhappy with his use of the term, Louise told him: “You see, it’s the language you use. Bad boy. Beautiful animal!”

Dan added: “That lovely fella weighs 1,360 kilograms, which is 214 stone, which is a whole lot of shark,” with Louise laughing at the joke.
