Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld died in Paris, according to French magazine Closer. His cause of death has not yet been reported and Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for the designer asking for comment. Lily Allen paid her respects on Instagram, sharing a picture of herself with Lagerfeld and said: “You made me feel like a princess. I never quite understood what you saw in me but I am forever grateful for the support that you and Chanel have given me over the last 15 years.
“Rest in peace Karl, you were a true genius and will be missed, so much,” she wrote.
Italian designer Donatella Versace said: “Karl your genius touches the lives of so many, especially Gianni and I.
“We will never forget your incredible talent and endless inspiration. We were always learning from you.”
“So incredibly sad to hear this,” Victoria Beckham said. “Karl was a genius and always so kind and generous to me both personally and professional.”
According to Closer, Lagerfeld was taken to The American hospital of Paris yesterday and was admitted overnight.
He reportedly died after several weeks of illness.
