EastEnders spoilers: Sharon Mitchell in danger as BBC soap teases return of fan favourite?

Legendary EastEnders characters Lofty Holloway (played by Tom Watt) and Mary the Punk (Linda Davidson) returned to Walford for Dr Legg’s (Leonard Fenton) funeral on Tuesday night’s episode of the BBC soap.

The twosomes’ surprise appearance shocked Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) who was also mourning the loss of the beloved doctor.

After the service, Lofty asked Sharon to hand over an envelope to Vicki Fowler (Scarlett Ann Johnson), who is currently residing in the USA.

As he handed her the fold, he said: “Next time you see Vicki, could you pass this on for me?

“There was a point when I thought I would be the one raising her, but you know. Anyway please give it to her for old times sake.”

Begrudgingly Sharon accepted the gift, before showing it to Stacey Fowler’s husband (Lacey Turner) Martin (James Bye).

The pair opened the envelope to see what was enclosed and were gobsmacked when they discovered Lofty had left Vicki a £20,000 cheque.

Does Lofty’s generous gesture mean Sharon will be seeing Vicki again soon?

Some fans of the BBC show definitely think there is a possibility Vicki will return following the slip of her name last night.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the likelihood of her making a comeback, one person asked: “Does that £20K cheque mean Vicki is on her way back?”

Another viewer added: “20,000 cheque for Vicki from Lofty – life changer or plot going to thicken?”

A third fan said: “‘Next time you see Vicki…’ coincidence or signposting a return?”

If Vicki were to return she may have some choice words for Sharon, as the mother-of-one married the man who killed her brother Dennis Rickman (Nigel Harman).

Sharon dated Dennis before he was stabbed to death in 2005 on the orders of Johnny Allen (Billy Murray) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Naturally, she was mortified when she learned Phil had something to do with his murder, but later forgave him.

Will Vicki take revenge on Sharon as punishment for her betraying Dennis and bedding his killer?

Actor Tom Watt, who reprised his role as Lofty Holloway, said his own comeback “felt right”.

During an appearance on ITV’s This Morning, Tom shared: “I really enjoyed going back to do it.

“They came along with this and it wasn’t just, ’Let’s get someone from the past back’.

“It was really well written and right that he was back for the funeral. So if it feels [right].”

EastEnders continues Thursday on BBC at 7.30pm.
