The 46-year-old Chargers executive believes the AAF is a “great idea” and watched the opening weekend games with his two sons.
The AAF began last weekend and Telesco has confirmed he will be sending scouts to the Week 2 games.
Telesco said he had spoken to AAF co-founder Bill Polian about what he would like to see in a developmental league.
“It has the potential to be a nice complement to the NFL,” Telesco said.
“It’s a great spot for a developmental league for players, but even aside from that — coaches and front office, officiating, athletic trainers and video equipment people, public relations — all of that.

The 10 weeks of the AFF will see eight teams participate in 40 regular season games before finishing in a championship showdown in Las Vegas on April 27.
During the Chargers’ postseason run Telesco brought in two players from AAF roster in 2018.
Los Angeles secured the services of kicker Nick Rose as a kickoff specialist and also linebacker Tyrone Holmes, who was added to the organisation’s practice squad.
There are two AAF teams in close vicinity to the Chargers, the San Diego Fleet and the Arizona Hotshots.
And Telesco believes there are several benefits to players being on AAF teams and not just the standard three-year $250,000 contract.
“With San Diego close and Arizona pretty close, it will be pretty convenient for us [to scout],” Telesco said.
“It’s a place where young guys can go play.
“No. 1, you get a chance to go play football and get paid for it, so that’s nice.
“No. 2, you get great coaching.
“And No. 3, you get a chance to put tape together so the NFL can evaluate you again.
“Most of these guys we’ve seen before, but it gives them a chance to develop and learn, get better at their craft and get it on tape.”
