Joe Sugg, 27, and Dianne Buswell, 29, were reported to have “annoyed” their co-stars, after it was claimed the couple were making the Strictly Come Dancing: Live! tour a “nightmare” with their loved-up antics.
Fellow professional dancer, AJ Pritchard, 24, has now opened up on whether their public displays of affection were too much for the cast and crew.
Appearing on Heart Radio this morning, the BBC pro chatted to breakfast hosts Lucy Horobin and Jamie Theakston about his time on the tour.
Joe and Dianne won most of the dates, apart from one which went to Stacey Dooley, prompting her to ask: “Is that because Joe Sugg gets on very well with his dance partner?
“And apparently all they did was kind of needed to get a room for most of the tour. Is that true?”
AJ replied: “I think it was more because every single audience had kids in and he was going to win by the votes.
“They literally went crazy for it, which was so good.”
The star continued: “This show was really calm. Everyone goes out, has fun and just performs the same two dances [from the series].”
Elsewhere, it comes after AJ sparked more romance rumours with his Strictly Come Dancing 2018 celebrity partner, Lauren Steadman.
The two were reportedly caught up in a romantic moment during one of their performances at London’s Wembley Arena last week.
After their Viennese Waltz, judge Darcey Bussell couldn’t help but comment on their chemistry.
The 49-year-old complimented the Paralympian on how far she has come since she first started training for Strictly last year.
The former Prima Ballerina also said the dance had “plenty of romance”.
According to The Sun, Lauren and AJ “squirmed” at the judge’s comment, with tour host Ore Oduba, 33, then quipping Darcey was “reading between the dance lines”.
The audience reportedly wolf whistled and cheered while the duo blushed.
Despite Darcey’s comment, a spokesperson for AJ told Express.co.uk: “We can confirm that AJ and Lauren are nothing but the best of friends. Any reports suggesting otherwise are works of fiction.”
Back in November, AJ hinted he could be more than friends with Lauren once the series had finished.
AJ told the Mirror: “I am very protective of Lauren because we have worked so close together.
“There are different things that she will talk about in training that she would never talk about on camera.”
He continued: “It’s for that reason that we have grown so close together and we will be friends for life and who knows in the future…
“You never know what is going to happen.”
