Coronation Street spoilers: Peter Barlow's boat arsonist REVEALED as fans expose culprit?

A horrific fire will break out on a boat in Coronation Street next week, trapping Peter Barlow’s (played by Chris Gascoyne) son Simon (Alex Bain), leaving him in danger of losing his life.

ITV teased the dramatic whodunnit storyline with a series of spoiler images, showing Peter’s vessel engulfed in flames.

Carla Connor (Alison King) purchased the craft for Peter to live in after New Year’s Eve, while the factory underwent repairs.

But it appears the boat will soon be in ruins when the blaze takes hold of it, causing panic and fear among Weatherfield residents.

Since the release of the teaser photos, fans of the show have been speculating who would set the vessel ablaze and why.

Surprisingly, some viewers are convinced Roy Cropper (David Neilson) may have something to do with the incident and shared their theory online.

Explaining the café owner has been struggling with the recent death of his mother and suggested his sleepwalking could spiral out of control, several fans pointed the finger at Roy.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “What if it’s actually Roy who accidentally burns down Peter’s boat while sleepwalking?”

Another person tweeted: “Oh I bet Roy sleepwalks and sets Peter’s boat on fire.”

A third commentator said: “Putting it out there now. I think it’s Roy who sets fire to the boat in Corrie.”

Someone else penned: “Oh no! Roy has started to sleepwalk,” while another begged: “Please get some help, Roy.”

However, others suspect Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) of burning down the craft as revenge for Peter breaking her heart and mistreating her.

In Wednesday’s instalment of the hit drama series, Simon is seen raging when he discovers his dad plans to take his new love interest, Abi, out on the boat.

But an insensitive Peter tells the teenager he cares very little for Abi, a statement which is overheard by her son Seb (Harry Visinoni).

Naturally, Abi loses it when she finds out and lashes out at Peter, before she goes off to drown her sorrow in booze.

Meanwhile, Simon is showing Aadi and Asha around the boat using a hurricane lamp, before the pair extinguish the flame and leave him.

Unfortunately, someone knocks over the lamp and the wick quickly catches fire, gradually igniting the entire boat.

As crowds gather to watch the flames swallow the vessel, Aadi and Asha inform Peter Simon is still be on board.

Convinced Abi is to blame, Peter later goes to search for her, believing she set the place alight when she was in a drunken state of rage.

Coronation Street continues this Wednesday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
