Federer’s supporters are eagerly anticipating his return to Roland Garros to contest the French Open this year.
However, it seems he might have to miss one of the tournaments which would have prepared him for the competition, which starts in May.

Barcelona Open chief Costa has now revealed financial constraints may mean Federer is not on court in Catalonia.
“At the moment we do not have news but of course we would be very happy if Federer would come,” Costa told Marca. “Although our budget is what it is.”
Barcelona Open attendees will still get to feast their eyes on a host of talent even if Federer is not there.
The 37-year-old’s long-term rival Rafael Nadal is set to take part in the tournament as he seeks to close the gap on world No 1 Novak Djokovic.
The Spaniard will be joined by fellow big guns Kei Nishikori and Dominic Thiem, ranked seventh and eighth respectively.
NextGen prospects Karen Khachanov and Stefanos Tsitsipas are also set to feature at the Barcelona Open.
Federer, meanwhile, will be eager to add to the eight Wimbledon titles he has won later this year.
Tennis expert David Law, though, reckons Djokovic is most likely to secure glory at SW19.
“The absolute favourite for Wimbledon is Novak Djokovic,” Law said.
“Roger Federer is with Rafael Nadal probably next I would say.
“Roger Federer’s five-set loss to Kevin Anderson? And Rafael Nadal reaching the semi-finals and losing 10-8 in the fifth?
“Based on recent history and the form Roger Federer has been in recently, no I don’t think I do [have to justify the prediction].
“I don’t think he [Federer] is ahead of Nadal.”
