Susan Boyle: 'I was disgusting' Simon Cowell apologises to star on America's Got Talent

Susan Boyle, 57, showed off her phenomenal vocal skills once again on the new America’s Got Talent: The Champions where Simon Cowell, 59, had a case of nostalgia.

After her performance on the show, Simon admitted he had “goosebumps” as he apologised for how he was during her audition on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2009.

Praising the star, he said: “I have goosebumps in my goosebumps. Oh my god.

“Susan that really really took me back, all those years I can remember vividly how disgusting I was on the day, before you sang.”

He continued: ”And then, what you did and what happened afterwards and to end the show… it’s been an amazing night. I mean, seriously it was fantastic. You’re a champion.”

In her audition on Britain’s Got Talent, Susan was initially dismissed by the judges, Simon, Amanda Holden And Piers Morgan, due to her appearance.

But the singer soon blew them away with her incredible rendition of I Dream a Dream from Les Misérables.

And it’s not the first time Simon has regretted how he treated the star all those years ago.

The music mogul received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last summer where he reflected on those who have become a huge success from being on his shows including Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and American Pop Idol.

Simon, who was dubbed ‘Mr Nasty’ for his brutal, honest comments towards contestants, said he “hated his guts” for his initial reaction towards Susan.

He told Variety: “When that clip arrived on my laptop, and I saw me, I said, ‘I actually hate my guts right now’.”

“Because we were really sneery,” Simon added. “That was the tipping point.”

Speaking about his many protégés, Simon admitted he remembers seeing them for the first time like “yesterday”.

“You always remember that moment when you discovered a star for the first time, whether it was Harry Styles or the other guys from One Direction, Leona Lewis or Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood or Susan Boyle,” he said.

“I remember them vividly, like they were yesterday.”

Susan, nicknamed SuBo, went on to become one of the most successful contestants on a talent show and is reportedly worth £12 million.

Ten years on from that audition, Susan revealed to her Instagram fans this week she is releasing a brand new album.

Alongside a video posted to her 23,900 followers, the Scottish star wrote: “Susan Boyle’s brand new album ‘TEN’, is available to pre-order today.

“Featuring 4 new tracks (which she’s keeping a surprise!) and 13 of your favourites from the past decade.

“Limited amount of signed copies available! [link in bio] #AGTChampions #SusanBoyleTEN.”
