Fortnite Valentine's Day event: NEW skin and challenges teased for February update

Fortnite is the bright and brash online multiplayer game that has taken the world by storm. Fortnite developer Epic Games is famed for keeping things fresh, with regular roll-outs of limited edition events. So it comes as no surprise to some Fortnite will be receiving some Valentine’s Day treatment just in time for February 14.

The Valentine’s Day “Share the Love” event is actually arriving just in time, with the end of Fortnite’s seventh season fast approaching.

New events expected at the start of March will reportedly be centred around a epic earthquake rocking Fortnite island to the core.

The Valentine’s Day event is expected to have a similar structure to last month’s Marshmello concert.

A special event Skin will be made available, as well as a collection of challenges, in order to earn accessories for that Skin.

Sources close to Epic Games suggest the Skin will be a dark version of the Love Ranger Skin.

Those who already own the Love Ranger Skin should expect the Valentine’s version to automatically unlock, without having to complete any challenges.

This appears fair as Fortnite skins are relatively expensive and it hardly seems fair for players to pay twice for essentially the same Valentine’s themed item.

The Love Ranger Skin is thought to be the same group as the Skull Trooper and Tomato Head assets.

Other Valentine’s Day “Share the Love” rewards are believed to include banners, backpacks and a glider.

Although the placeholder banner has already been leaked, there are few clues as to what the final version will look like.

The Valentine’s Day challenges will most likely be staggered over four days.

And the challenges will be made up of a different number of tasks to complete.

Reddit users claim the Valentine’s Day challenges will require four, five, six and then seven tasks to complete.

The 2018 Valentine’s Day event say Fortnite debut a vaulted crossbow, complete with a romantic Valentine’s skin.

And this suggests there is a good chance similar gear will appear this year.

The challenges will appear on Valentine’s day, which happily coincides with the game’s weekly challenges being updated.

Epic Games hasn’t announced anything, but then it never does before the patch day, which is Tuesday, February 12.
