Manpreet Jutla (played by Rebecca Sarker) left Emmerdale viewers miffed after she was ousted as having a shopping addiction.
ITV fans saw the doctor’s car being repossessed outside Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) house on Thursday night’s show, as a result of her mounting debt.
When Jai arrived on the scene Manpreet explained to him what had been going on, before begging him to keep quiet about it all.
The General Practitioner is currently dating Jai’s dad (Bhaskar Patel), who has no idea what his girlfriend has been dealing with in secret.
Eager to help Manpreet, Jai escorted her to a meeting for shopping addicts, but fans feared her troubles would destroy his family.
On Twitter, one person said: “I don’t know about Manpreet, I think she’s taking advantage of my dishy Rishi. She has some problem and she’s going to drag all of them into it when she gets desperate for money. I don’t know how she thinks she can keep all of this a secret for much longer.”
Two others offered: “I feel a very dark Manpreet story building up” and “There’s something more to Manpreet’s story.”
A third person penned: “Manpreet is going to cause issues for Rishi. Jai needs to accept she has a problem,” as another wrote: “Something’s not right about Manpreet and it’s not the shopping addiction.”
Someone else tweeted: “I know Jai promised Manpreet not to tell, but he needs to change his mind before she starts stealing from his father and the rest of the family, including the business. She’s desperate for money and a pretty woman with an addiction is dangerous to a naive man in love.”
Others feared Jai would fall victim to Manpreet’s charm, with one writing: “Jai and Manpreet has affair written all over it.”
Another guessed: “From that little Jai scene. I reckon him and Manfred will be bonking by next Friday.”
“I hope Jai and Manpreet don’t have an affair Rishi deserves happiness,” a third opined.
Meanwhile, a fourth shared: “I smell an affair for Jai and Manpreet it’s been a while for Jai since he got some tail and also he kinda has a thing for addicts.”
It would come as a real blow to Rishi if Manpreet and Jai were to have an affair, as she recently moved in with him.
Manpreet and Jai’s blossoming relationship is not the only one to have caught the attention of viewers yesterday.
Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) and Jacob Gallagher’s (Joe-Warren Plant) forbidden fling was slammed by fans at home.
Many called for an end to the grooming plot, with one writing: “The teacher/student relationship on Emmerdale really freaks me out.”
“It’s seriously time to end the Maya storyline. She actually makes me want to vomit,” a second vented.
While a third fumed: “When are we going to see Maya expose as a Pedo because if her scheming breaks up Liv and Jacob, she should be exposed and charged for child grooming.
