Chris Evans: Virgin Radio host slams co-star 'We were never this interesting'

Chris Evans, 52, recently moved from BBC Radio 2 to Virgin Radio, bringing much of his former team with him, including Vassos Alexander. Speaking on the show, the pair discussed the topic of ketchup where Chris seemingly appeared to take a cheeky swipe at his long-standing co-star. The radio DJ said: “I blame Vassos for being so interesting these days. We were never this interesting at the BBC.” The presenter gave listeners an insight into tomato sauce and when it’s not allowed to go on sale in the supermarket, as he admitted the bizarre tale was all Vassmos’ idea.

Chris said: “The egress of ketchup, in the iconic glass bottle is 0.28 miles per hour.

“If the viscosity of the ketchup is greater than the speed, then the ketchup is rejected for sale. Told you.”

To which his co-star simply replied: “Wow.”

This fun-fact was only the start of what the hosts had in store as the radio star said there would be “much more” to discuss throughout the programme.

Vassos has worked with Chris for the past seven years as they formerly worked together on BBC Radio 2.

The radio presenter stepped down from his role after eight years in the job last year.

Now, the pair have taken their funny quips to Virgin Radio, however, it was recently revealed the sports presenter nearly got in trouble with the radio star’s wife, Natasha Shishmanian, 38.

The incident took place after Vassos went up against the presenter’s wife in in a game of Who Put The F in Facts.

Chris, spilled: “There was a huge controversy over it last week because my wife put a fact in there. Vassos went up against my wife and in the end it almost came to blows.” His co-star agreed: “We nearly fell out.”

To which Natasha, interjected: “We did. But we made up in the end.”

The pair seemingly appeared to put their differences aside as they both laughed off their minor disagreement.

Chris and Natasha, a former professional golfer and writer, married in 2007 after they met at a celebrity tournament in Newport two years earlier.

The couple share four children together, including twins Walt and Boo, who were born in September.

They also have nine-year-old Noah and six-year old Eli.

Chris regularly updates listeners with anecdotes of his family life with his wife and children.

Chris Evans’ Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6.30am on Virgin Radio.
