Manchester City vs Newcastle LIVE STREAM: How to watch Premier league football online

Manchester City are currently second in current Premier League standings with 56 points.

Pep Guardiola’s side started the season with a fine run of form and had been top in league standings until they were overtaken by Liverpool.

The Manchester City manager has not only emphasised the need for an away victory over Newcastle, but for pristine performances from now until the end of the season in order to be in with a chance of challenging Jurgen Klopp’s outfit.

Speaking ahead of today’s game, Guardiola said: “I don’t know what we need to do to win the title but I’m pretty sure we’ll have to win a lot of games and the first one is Newcastle.

“They [Liverpool] are not going to drop too many in the Premier League and we are going to demand to be there, so all we can do is be there.

“They [the players] know it – we spoke about it.

“Before [with] 85, 87, 89 [points] – you could be champions. Now you have to be over 90 points. In both situations, [playing] later or earlier, we need to win the games.

“If not, it’s almost over. Every game is almost a final and it’s the same in the cups.”

The Manchester City boss admitted the most his team can do is keep winning games in order to apply pressure on Liverpool’s current Premier League lead of four points.

He went on: “All we can do is win our games and they will feel that Manchester City is always there. It’s all we can do.

“To play with them one point in front compared to four or seven or 10 – it’s different, of course, but all we can do is the same.”

Newcastle will be hoping to make the most of their home advantage this evening in order to secure valuable points.

The club is currently seventeenth in season standings, meaning it is currently involved in a battle to escape the feared relegation zone.
