Dancing On Ice 2019: ‘Don’t go on at me!’ Phillip Schofield hits out at ‘angry’ fans

Tonight’s Dancing On Ice show was hosted as usual by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Last week on the ITV contest, Richard Blackwood knocked out of the competition after he failed to survive a skate off against Saira Khan.

During a segment to the camera tonight, Phillip addressed some of the backlash the show had received after Richard was voted off.

Phillip was quick to highlight how viewers’ vote influenced the final outcome, and urged them to do something about it instead of moaning.

“There’s no point being angry if you don’t get behind your favourites,” he vented.

Holly then quickly interjected: “You tell em!”

“Don’t go on at me after the show, get voting!” Phillip exclaimed.

Although viewers can vote to save their favourites, it is ultimately down to the judges to pick between the two stars who end up in the skate off.

Last week, viewers were not happy with the result and they took to Twitter to rage.

One wrote: “Gutted that Richard has left the competition at this point. He had lots of potential and he definitely wasn’t the weakest skater!”

Another said: “Watching #DancingOnIce catch up and can’t believe Richard Blackwood was sent home. He could skate!!”

“To think Richard is out makes me want to cry how did he lose the skate off he was so so much better, he actually skated!!! #DancingOnIce,” a third added.

Meanwhile, tonight was home to a dramatic moment as Gemma Collins fell flat on her face during her skate.

It was toward the end of her routine with Matt Evers, and despite the trip, she received some positive reviews from judges.

The experts were quick to note how much the reality star had improved from last week.

“I was so gutted for you Gem but my comments still stand. You get out what you put in,” Ashley Banjo began.

While Jane Torvill noted: “You have definitely worked hard and improved and it’s so disappointing.”

Christopher Dean chimed in: “You’ve proved that you can improve.

“You looked like a new celebrity out there tonight.”

Jason shared: “I really like your mum because she gives you sound advice.

“You have improved, there was an improvement here. My only concern is, is there enough of an improvement?”

Dancing On Ice continues Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
