James Bond 25 update: 'CONFIRMED' filming news for Daniel Craig's 'final' 007 movie

The next film in the series – ostensibly Daniel Craig’s last as the iconic spy – is out in 2020, and yesterday rumours emerged online that some “big news” relating to the blockbuster would be revealed today. While that claim was never backed up by producers or the movie studio itself, now an interesting update relating to the film appears to have emerged from Norway.

The post seemingly confirms previous whispers suggesting that much of the next James Bond caper will shoot in the northwestern European country.

The Norwegian Film Institute states on its website today that a film with the working title “B25” has been given a huge amount of funding – suggesting considerable chunks of the production will take place there.

B25 is, for obvious reasons, widely believed to be 007’s next adventure.

The NFI website says it has been given around 47.025.000 kr, which converts to roughly £4.2 million; or 4.8 million Euro.

According to the Norwegian website Filter Film og TV, that’s the largest amount ever given by the country’s film and TV incentive scheme.

That scheme means Bond producers can get a refund of up to 25% of the money they spend in Norway, up to the amount the grant sets (in this case, £4.2 million).

Bond has previously been shot in Norway in You Only Live Twice and Die Another Day – in Tjøme in Vestfold and Svalbard respectively, for background shots – but this is the first time a major sequence could be filmed there.

There’s also no word just yet on whether Norway will be seen as Norway, or whether it will be used to represent another location.

Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing the next Bond film, taking over from Danny Boyle – who had initially signed up but soon departed amid creative differences.

Bond 25, as yet untitled, was due for release at the end of this year, but will now find its way to cinemas in early 2020.

Speculation is already rife over who will replace Craig after that, with Richard Madden a current frontrunner – although it’s been claimed that producers are yet to start their search.

James Bond 25 is out on February 14, 2020.
