Avengers Endgame: Captain Marvel star Brie Larson reveals why she almost REJECTED role

This year we get two Captain Marvel movies in the form of her solo outing this March and Avengers Endgame in April. Larson is set to become the new figurehead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking the mantle from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Tony Stark. However, the 29-year-old almost turned down the role entirely because of the fandom. Speaking with EMPIRE, Larson said: “It took me a while to agree to do it.”

Larson continued: “I really needed time to sit with myself and see if this was a choice I should make and a life I should live.

“It wasn’t about the piece itself – more about all that comes with after the movie comes out.

“And whether, as an introvert and someone who really enjoys anonymity and being able to walk around and observe the world, that experience might be different and I might be more observed than being the observer.

“I didn’t know mentally if that was something I could handle.”

Aside from Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame this year, finishing her solo trilogy is an obvious choice, plus a couple more Avengers movies at least.

And as Iron Man mentored Spider-Man, it makes sense for Captain Marvel to do the same for Ms. Marvel aka Kamala Khan, Marvel’s first headline Muslim superhero.

Whatever the form it takes, Captain Marvel’s story is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Captain Marvel will be released in UK cinemas on March 8 and Avengers Endgame will for on April 26.
