Gear S3 price cut as Samsung releases a big update for its smartwatch

Anyone still unsure about joining the smartwatch revolution may have their arm twisted by this latest news.

Samsung has just cut the price of its Gear S3 wearable with prices now starting from just £205 – a saving of £50 off the most recent price.

YOU CAN FIND THE DEAL HERE

This new deal also makes the Gear S3 almost £90 cheaper than the new Galaxy Watch which was unveiled late last year.

Although the Gear S3 has been superseded by its more modern sibling, don’t think that Samsung has forgotten about its older smartwatch.

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

In fact, a recent report from SamMobile has confirmed that the Korean technology giant has actually begun pushing out an update which brings new features to this device.

It’s currently unclear when everyone will get the upgrade with Samsung following its usual pattern of a slow rollout across the globe but new extras include improved health tracking, a new theatre mode and better messaging.

If you already own a Gear S3 you can check if the update is available by going to Settings > About Gear and Update Gear Software.

If the upgrade has been pushed out your watch should then get upgraded.

Here’s a full list of the new features coming to the Gear S3.

SAMSUNG HEALTH • Samsung Health now supports various indoor workouts and back-to-back workout

HEALTH WIDGET • The Samsung Health Widget now supports and provides sleep stage information.

THEATRE AND SLEEP MODE • These two new settings have been added to stop users from being disturbed at different times. Modes can be toggled from the quick panel which has also been upgraded to interactions faster and easier.

MESSAGES • Draft messages can now be saved and animated images are now automatically played. Replying is also easier and 1,000 emojis now supported.

MUSIC • Users can change to different music play sources on the watch instead of using the phone.

SETTINGS • Improved categories and better discovery of features and items.

The news of this update comes as Samsung could soon face some fierce competition from a Chinese rival.

HONOR announced its new View20 smartphone last night at an event in Paris which includes a huge edge-to-edge display and 48-megapixel camera.

However, alongside this new £499 phone, the firm also unveiled its new wearables.

Although there’s currently no further details the HONOR Watch Magic and HONOR Watch Dream, new smartwatches designed for all aspects of daily life, are coming soon.
