WHATSAPP DOWN – UPDATE ONE: The issues affecting WhatsApp users appear to have been resolved.
Down Detector has gone from registering thousands of WhatsApp down reports to receiving zero.
The issues affected WhatsApp users for under an hour before they were resolved.
ORIGINAL: WhatsApp down reports are flooding in with thousands of people around the world reporting issues with the hugely popular chat app.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector has received a surge of WhatsApp down reports today.
Out of those affected some 59 per cent are experiencing connection issues while 22 per cent of WhatsApp fans are having problems receiving messages.
The Down Detector outage map says WhatsApp users in the UK, Europe and US are among those experiencing issues.
WhatsApp fans have also taken to Twitter to report issues with the service.
One WhatsApp fan posted: “Is WhatsApp down”.
Another wrote: “WhatsApp is down”.
One added: “Is it? #WhatsAppDown”.
And one posted: “Is whatsapp down”.
Downdetector.co.uk registered a peak of almost 8,000 WhatsApp users reporting the chat app’s services as down today.
While Downdetector.com recorded a peak of more than 3,000 reports of WhatsApp down.
Express.co.uk has contacted WhatsApp for comment.
WhatsApp has over 1.5billion users with more than 60billion messages sent per day, according to the most recent statistics.
