NTAs 2019: Coronation Street set for devastating loss in battle with Emmerdale?

The award ceremony will be shown live on television tonight as it takes place at the 02 Arena.

One of the hotly contested categories is for Best Serial Drama.

The nominees for 2019 are soaps Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders.

However, bookmakers OddsMonkey think Emmerdale is on for a winner already compared with its fellow ITV soap.

Emmerdale has odds of 8/11 of clinching a victory in the category while Coronation Street sits on 2/1.

Meanwhile, EastEnders has odds of 5/1 of triumphing and Hollyoaks has 8/1 odds.

A spokesperson for the bookies commented: “Most of the NTA market is odds-on, with plenty of money coming for the likes of The Bodyguard, Emmerdale, This Morning and Peaky Blinders in their respective categories.”

Hosting the ceremony tonight is Dermot O’Leary who is taking on the task for the ninth year in a row.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly are once again up for the Best Presenter gong.

The pair have won the award every year since 2001, but will they lose out this year?

In order to focus on his health, Ant stepped down from his presenting duties for most of the past year.

Today saw Piers Morgan complain once again at Ant being nominated as he presented Good Morning Britain.

He vented: “How did you get a nom? I’m sorry but how did that happen?

“Dec, sure he’s put a shift in. Us, hundreds of days at the coal face.

“Imagine if Ant McPartlin actually wins tonight and we don’t – walking the dog for a year, television personality of the year.”

Piers added: “Me, coal face every morning hours on end, week after week – nothing.

“Imagine if you think it’s a reasonable way to conduct the award seasons business, seriously.”

Good Morning Britain has been nominated in the Daytime category.

It’s up against Sunday Brunch, This Morning, The Jeremy Kyle Show and Loose Women.

The NTA Awards air tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
