Liverpool transfer news: Klopp to ship out Origi and draft in McKennie?

Jurgen Klopp is shuffling his ranks this month as he looks to keep the Reds’ title charge on track.

Two stars have already departed.

The Premier League heavyweights pocketed £19m for talented target man Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.

Ex-Southampton ace Nathaniel Clyne has also joined the south-coast outfit on loan.

Alberto Moreno is widely expected to pack his bags having been deemed surplus to requirements.

Forgotten forward Divock Origi is a man in demand this month.

Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham and Wolves have all been sniffing around.

Klopp had initially been reluctant to sell another squad player.

But with the charismatic German’s growing interest in Schalke star McKennie he might be tempted to cash in.

Reports earlier this week suggested Anfield bigwigs are monitoring the 20-year-old closely.

The Sun say a £20m bid is being debated in the corridors of power despite Klopp’s previous insistance that he wouldn’t be splashing the cash.

With Origi also valued at around £20m club chiefs could sanction the deal if the books balance.

McKennie can also play in defence, which will prove to be a selling point for Klopp.

Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all currently crocked.

With Clyne now gone, Klopp is perilously short of defensive options.

Former player turned pundit Craig Burley says letting the experienced full-back leave was a bold move.

“Well Klopp had said he’s letting [Clyne] go out because he had Alexander-Arnold and he had Gomez coming back if he needs to play there,” Burley said.

“And I suppose he can play James Milner there.

“So he took a calculated risk.

“He took a calculated risk that if something did happen then he would play potentially Gomez or James Milner there.”
