Man Utd transfer news: Thierry Henry contacts Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over midfielder

The former Arsenal has been very busy in the January market as he looks to bring some stability at the club.

Monaco currently sit 19th in the Ligue 1 table and are in a genuine fight for survival.

Having won the title just two years ago under Leonardo Jardim, Henry is desperate to keep the club afloat to spare his managerial reputation.

They have already brought in Fode Ballo-Toure, Naldo and William Vainquer as reinforcements this month.

Cesc Fabregas also joined the club from Chelsea to link up with his former team-mate.

Now Henry is looking to bring another player from the Premier League to help propel his side up the table.

According to RMC Sport, he has asked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if he would be able to take Marouane Fellaini on loan for the rest of the season.

Henry has a good relationship with the former Everton man having worked as part of the Belgian national team’s coaching set up.

The midfielder will be out for around a month after picking up a calf injury.

Fellaini has played just 31 minutes under the Norwegian’s reign.

“There’s X-factor in different players and we all know Felli’s X-factor,” Solskjaer said ahead of the visit of Brighton.

“He’ll probably be at least three or four weeks [out] – he’s got a calf problem and that’s sad.

It is unclear whether Solskjaer will be willing to let the player go.

Fellaini provides a unique option with his aerial ability and physical presence.

The 31-year-old penned a new contract back in June last year until 2020.

He was a favourite of Jose Mourinho’s and now the Portuguese has left Old Trafford, the situation may well have changed.
