Galaxy S9 Android 9 Pie update is here – how to get these new features on your phone now

After months of waiting it seems Android 9 Pie is finally arriving on Galaxy S9 devices.

This blockbuster update, which Samsung calls One UI, brings a swathe of new features and an updated look to this popular device.

Included in the upgrade is a customisable Night Mode which adjusts the screen’s tone, brightness and contrast to offer users a more focused and comfortable viewing experience.

A new interface also makes navigating bigger-screen phones simple by effectively splitting the display in half and it also pares down the amount of information on the display, offering users a more focused and fluid experience.

Discussing One UI, Samsung revealed: “One UI helps you focus on what really matters to you.

vCard QR Code

vCard.red is a free platform for creating a mobile-friendly digital business cards. You can easily create a vCard and generate a QR code for it, allowing others to scan and save your contact details instantly.

The platform allows you to display contact information, social media links, services, and products all in one shareable link. Optional features include appointment scheduling, WhatsApp-based storefronts, media galleries, and custom design options.

“With hardware and software working together in harmony, see only what you need, using and viewing your phone with an experience that feels second nature.

“Because it’s the small details that make a big difference.

“Standardising these design elements not only enhances the UI’s aesthetic appeal but it also creates pleasing consistency with the rounded corners of Galaxy devices.”

Although there’s still no official confirmation of when Android 9 Pie will arrive in each country, SamMobile is reporting that a global rollout has begun and should be available across the globe very soon.

If you own an S9 or S9+ there’s a very simple way to check if your device is ready for this update.

Simply head to settings and hit the Software update button.

Once the device has checked if an upgrade is available then you should see the option to install 9 Pie.

It’s worth noting that the update is over 1GB in size so make sure you enough room on your phone and, if you don’t have unlimited mobile data, that you are connected to wi-fi.

If you own a device on contract you may find this upgrade isn’t available straight away as mobile operators often need to test the software before releasing it to customers.

The news of this rollout comes as Samsung has just pushed out another change to its S9 devices.

In an update which is rolling out nowSamsung is improving the S9’s front-facing camera.

Samsung notes discussing the new features say:

• Improved performance for the front camera

Brightness of faces in backlit conditions has been improved

• The security of your device has been improved

Overall stability of functions improved

Although Samsung stated performance for the front-facing sensor should be improved, it did not discuss how in more detail.

The update is rolling out in stages for owners, meaning if it is not already available on your device it will be soon.
