Subsequently, it looks like Clayton’s father, Dane (Simon Naylor), is the one who has died.
Viewers will remember Dane had an abusive relationship with Clayton’s mum Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding).
In one episode, fans saw him threaten his ex and her boyfriend David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd).
Clayton is currently behind bars for the murder of David’s wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane).
Pictures show him cuffed to an officer as he is allowed out of jail to attend the funeral.
He also has cuts and grazes on his face, indicating he may have been beaten up on the inside.
Although Clayton doesn’t look to be getting a permanent release any time soon, as he was sentenced to 15 years for Kylie’s murder, he will still be causing trouble.
Shona’s son will be causing tension between her and David in upcoming scenes.
It comes after the ITV soap’s new producer Iain MacLeod explained what his return would involve.
“We’ve got a story where Clayton will rear his ugly, criminal head!” he explained.
“He throws a massive spanner in the works for David Platt and he tries to embroil Shona Ramsey in a plot to smuggle drugs into prison.”
He went on to add, he will be a big obstacle for David and Shona.
“Clayton has been locked up and it provides the biggest challenge to David and Shona’s relationship since the Josh story,” the producer added.
But will Shona help out her son?
Viewers will have to wait and see as the storyline unfolds on the soap.
