Peaky Blinders fans were sent into over drive recently after it looked like former footballer David Beckham could be joining the cast for at least one episode of the Cillian Murphy gangster series. The star was spotted on the set of the BBC drama. The star even posted some photos from the now iconic office of mafia kingpin Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy).
One snap showed Beckham with Peaky Blinders and Taboo creator Steve Knight, while another saw the sportsman chatting to members of the crew.
“Big thanks to creator, Steve Knight and the crew for looking after me. Excited for season 5,” Beckham captioned one picture.
Beckham cheekily posted some photos of himself with portraits of Tommy Shelby and his hot-headed brother Arthur (Paul Anderson).
The athlete has had a number of roles in a number of films including King Arthur: Legend of Sword and The Man from UNCLE.

Is David Beckham in the new series of Peaky Blinders?
The short answer is no. A spokesperson for Peaky Blinders told the Manchester Evening News that Beckham was just visiting.
Photos of Beckham on the Peaky Blinders set followed the launch of his fashion range inspired by the 1920s-set gangster show.
He unveiled his Peaky Blinders-inspired clothing range on his co-owned fashion label Kent & Curwen recently.
At the launch, Beckham was dressed in a tweed grey suit and tie, looking very much like he should be part of the BBC drama.

So, while Beckham might not be in the series, he’s a big fan of the show and perhaps could make a tiny cameo in a future series.
The news comes after the cast were seen filming scenes in Stockport as part of a two-day shoot.
They were seen shooting at Mersey Square in front of The Plaza, which is a historical theatre and cinema.
Photos revealed that the historical building had been given a period makeover to look like Bingley Hall in Birmingham, which used to be an exhibition centre.
There was also a poster outside the building featuring Sam Claflin’s far right MP Oswald Mosley, who will be having a big role in season five.

Along with a black-and-white photo, the poster read: “Oswald Mosley speak at Bingley Hall.”
The poster again hints that fact and fiction will be mixed together for the forthcoming instalment of Peaky Blinders.
Season four saw real-life trade unionist activist Jessie Eden turn appear in the show and played by Happy Valley star Charlotte Murphy.
The fifth season will see the focus firmly put on politics after Tommy was elected into office. But his ambitions only grew larger as he eyed up opportunities to expand his enterprises further.
There have also been suggestions that we could be seeing an appearance from famed gangster Al Capone in the new series after he was mentioned in season four.
