Is there a trailer for Game of Thrones season 8?

Yes, the first teaser trailer for Game of Thrones season eight has now dropped and gives fans some tantalising details.

In the short teaser, the epic battle of Fire and Ice commences with a Stark direwolf engulfed by ice, while a Lannister lion is consumed by flames.

The trailer culminates with the ice and fire meeting and appearing to form a brand new wall to replace the one destroyed by Viserion in season seven.

Some fans have suggested that the first look trailer also revealed a major Lannister death, which will be brutal judging by the burning lion sigil.

There has been speculation that there are hidden symbols in the trailer that reveal twist about the ending, particularly that the final battle will take place near the Trident.

Previously, Game of Thrones recently released the first look picture from the set of the show, giving fans their first glimpse of the final run.

Fans have also been given a preview for Game of Thrones season eight, episode one thanks to Entertainment Weekly, who were given access to the set of the HBO show.

There have also been suggestions that the ending of Game of Thrones season eight has already been revealed.

Cast member Wilf Scolding, who plays Rhaegar Targaryen, hinted on Instagram when the series would be released, saying: “I hope by April 2019 but my guess is as good as yours. Nothing’s been decided”.

While we’re still waiting, HBO dropped the first look from season eight for eager fans – but things weren’t looking good as it seemed Sansa could betray Jon.

Most recently, Rhaegar Targaryen star Wilf Scolding seemed to suggest season eight would be out in April 2019.

Filming on season eight has now finished with post-production is underway, with the release date expected in April 2019.

Has filming finished on Game of Thrones season 8?

Filming seems to have wrapped up on the show now with the cast and crew spotted at a wrap party in Northern Ireland. This means the end is near for filming and the post-production process will be getting underway.

Previously there was a lot of activity around the King’s Landing set which appears to have sustained some damage, hinting at a huge attack.

There have also been theories that the Night King will destroy King’s Landing in the final season when the White Walkers attack.

Joe Dempsie – who is better known as Gendry – admitted he only recently finishing filming in late May/early June and revealed there was tight security on set now compared to when he first started working on the show.

Actor Liam Cunningham – who plays Davos Seaworth – recently spoke about when season eight would be out.

“At this time, we’re very, very close to finishing the entire thing, but you’re not gonna see it until next year sometime, and I don’t even think they have a release date yet cause they don’t have to. But I’m very close to getting rid of the beard. Thank God,” he told The Independent.

How will Game of Thrones season 8 end?

Actress Emilia Clarke, who is better known as Daenerys Targaryen, recently said that the ending would not satisfy everyone.

Speaking to the Herald Sun, Emilia said: “People will scream and people will say, ‘That’s exactly what I wanted’.”

However, she laughed: “And some people will go, ‘huh?’ – my mum probably.”

Most recently, Clarke said that the ending was “embarassing” which leads fans to speculate why this might be the cas.

She also admitted that she’d already filmed her final scenes for the show, which could be significant.

However, one assistant director working on Game of Thrones dropped a massive hint from the set recently.

Jonathan Quinlan posted a note from the series’ producers thanking the crew for working so hard on the show’s longest ever battle scene.

The message included the line: “When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won’t know how hard you worked.” So it looks like season eight is slated for an April 2019 release.

There have been suggestions that there will be some big casualties in season eight during the epic battles after one star hinted that everyone died at the end of the season eight.

Liam Cunningham has said that fans can expect a “bittersweet” ending to the story.

The actor, who is better known as Ser Davos Seaworth, said that he knew exactly how the epic saga would be coming to a close.

“George R.R. Martin, the writer of the original books, described the end as ‘bittersweet’ and it is,” Cunningham teased to RTE Entertainment.

Sophie Turner recently revealed that the finale would see “betrayals” as war rages on across the Seven Kingdoms.

She said in an interview: “It’s full of betrayal, full of war, full of danger.

“That’s all I can say without giving too much away.”

There have been suggestions that Sansa could double-cross Jon Snow for power.

Sansa Stark star Sophie Turner has revealed that the emotional finale is going to leave fans divided.

One of the directors on Game of Thrones season eight has teased that fans of the show won’t be happy with the ending.

David Nutter, who has directed some of the final run, suggested that some would be unhappy by how the show wrapped up.

Actor Peter Dinklage – who portrays Tyrion Lannister in the show – previously told Variety that season eight was “about halfway through filming” and that it would be a “bittersweet” conclusion.

Referring to the delay, he added: “It’s the final season, and it’s a long one so we’re taking our time.”

Actor Brennock O’Connor has issued a warning suggesting that Game of Thrones is not going to end well, saying in a recent interview: “I don’t know how I want it to end compared to how I think it’s going to end.

“I think the Night King will come through and kill everyone because I feel like every time we have seen him, he seems stronger and now he’s got a dragon with him.”

He added: “I don’t know how they will ever combat that.”

Actress Sophie Turner really spoke about the ending of Game of Thrones and admitted she was finding it hard to accept the conclusion to the epic story.

Speaking about the last run, Maisie Williams told the Radio Times: “It’s either going to be everything that everyone dreamed of, or it’s gonna be disappointing. It depends which side of the fence you’re going to sit on.

“I think no matter what you do there’s definitely going to be that divide. It depends on what people want from the final season. I love it, but I don’t know. You never know.”

Her words suggest that the finale could potentially be divisive but with an expansive story like Game of Thrones, not everyone is going to be happy with the ending.

How many episodes will be in Game of Thrones season 8?

There will be a total of six episodes in Game of Thrones season eight, making it the shortest season but it will feature some of the longest running times of episodes.

Earlier this year, HBO released an official statement which said that Game of Thrones would “return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019”.

The cast and crew were spotted at various locations across the world throughout this year shooting scenes on the fantasy epic, including Dubrovnik where Jon Snow actor Kit Harington was apparently seen by a Croatian fan.

As well as Harington being spotted, he was seen filming scenes with Lena Headey – better known as Cersei Lannister – and John Bradley, who plays Samwell Tarly.

In 2018 there will be a year of no new episodes of Game of Thrones.

Despite no Game of Thrones this year, there’s hope on the horizon for plenty more in the future after George RR Martin spoke about the spin-offs and revealed that one of the five had been scrapped.

As fans may remember, Daenerys sacrificed the life of her child to save her husband Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) and the theory suggests she will sacrifice herself for the good of Westeros.

Why is Game of Thrones season 8 taking so long to be released?

Although Game of Thrones season eight has the least amount of episodes, it will have the longest running time of episodes.

Director David Nutter teased that each episode would be over 60 minutes long in season eight.

Euron Greyjoy star Pilou Asbaek recently dropped a huge teaser about the final series of Game of Thrones.

He also revealed: “I can’t say anything, because I’m not allowed to, but normally it takes six months to shoot 10 episodes, and this time we spent 10 months shooting six episodes.

“A lot of people made a lot of effort to create the best final season possible.”

The final season is set to be the most explosive and Ser Jorah Mormont star Iain Glen has suggested that there will be feature-length episodes, making it one of the longest runs ever – if not the longest.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has spoken about the finale, explaining why it’s taken so long to make the final run.

He said: “I was excited and I thought that Dan Weiss and [David] Benioff the creators, they couldn’t have done a better job on ending our story.”

The actor continued to Variety: “Everyone on the show, we’ve worked harder than ever before, spent twice as much time shooting these six episodes than we did on two full seasons before.

“No expenses has been spared, I mean we’ve gone all in so, we really hope that people will like it. We’ve done our best.”

HBO programmer Casey Bloys said last year that a 2019 release date is plausible due to the writing process involved in the show’s final season.

“They have to write the episodes and figure out the production schedule. We’ll have a better sense of that once they get further into the writing,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

The HBO boss also explained that the production of season eight will be “extremely cinematic” so the production schedule will differ somewhat from previous seasons.

Season seven was released in July last year, having started filming in August the previous year, 2016.

Filming for season eight officially started in October 2017.

In another interview with the publication, Bloys explained: “They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality.

“As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger – big battle scenes, big special effects. These things take time.

“Here’s the one thing I can assure you: [showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff] were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work.

“They’re perfectionists, and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with.”

Who will sit on the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones season 8?

Here are all the biggest theories about who will sit on the Iron Throne in season 8

Jon Snow is set to be dealt a cruel blow in an unexpected Bran Stark twist, which could see him lose the Iron Throne.

A new theory has emerged suggesting that Daenerys will win the throne after a hint about the ending.

There have been suggestions that it could be Bran Stark – now the Three-Eyed Raven – who will end up on the Iron Throne rather than either Jon or Daenerys.

Both the former Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and the Mother of Dragons are the favourites to rule the Seven Kingdoms but Bran is not far behind them.

Jon Snow could destroy the Iron Throne if a new theory is to be believed.

A fresh theory has emerged which suggests that Gendry will be the one to defeat the Night King.

While many think that it will be a victory for Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, some have been speculating at a shock win for Cersei Lannister.

In perhaps one of the biggest twists to date, fans have suggested one particular family could snatch the Iron Throne from Daenerys.

Iain Glen, who plays Jorah Mormont, has suggested that Danerys could be denied the Iron Throne in a new twist.

Joe Dempsie, who plays blacksmith and one of Robert Baratheon’s bastards, recently revealed that he’d been filming quite a lot on Game of Thrones season eight which could either signal his ascent to the throne or death while fighting the White Walkers.

Now fans are wondering if the lesser known Alllana Tyrell will be returning to claim the Iron Throne.

A new theory has emerged suggesting that there’s a loophole that means Jon Snow will never sit on the Iron Throne due pledging his allegiance to the Night’s Watch.

There’s been a brand new theory that Daenerys won’t claim the Iron Throne, while others have suggested that she will lose her kingdom to another character.

A new theory suggests that Cersei Lannister will be keeping the Iron Throne after all, which may come as a shock to some fans.

Game of Thrones season 8 will see the return of Rhaegar Targaryen

Will Rhaegar Targaryen appear in Game of Thrones season 8?

The answer to this one is a simple yes. Rhaegar Targaryen star Wilf Scolding recently revealed during an online Q&A session that he would be making a comeback with fans speculating why he would be returning.

Previously fans were speculating about whether former child star Dylan Sprouse could be playing Rhaegar Targaryen.

The character was portrayed by Scolding in season seven but reports emerged in mid-2018 that Sprouse – the twin brother of Riverdale actor Cole Sprouse – would be taking up the part.

However, as Scolding has confirmed he’s coming back, it seems unlikely that Sprouse is in the picture.

Game of Thrones season 8 could see Jon Snow revealing his true identity

Will Jon Snow reveal his true identity in Game of Thrones season 8?

A new theory has emerged about how Jon Snow will reveal his identity in the final series, which is likely to shock fans.

Most recently, fans noticed that Jon Snow’s lineage was alluded to way back in season one of Game of Thrones, which means there may have been other hints along the way.

There’s been a huge theory that Jon Snow’s real heritage was already alluded to back in season six in a subtle hint that many fans seem to have just picked up on.

The latest theory suggests that Jon Snow could have a secret twin, which could be a huge game-changer if it is true.

The most recent theory for Game of Thrones has seen fans suggest that Bran Stark has secretly been orchestrating the rise of Jon Snow since the beginning.

Now that he has become the Three-Eyed Raven, some have theorised that he will be the only pulling all the strings and helping him to his rightful place.

Jon Snow is set to be returning to Winterfell in what could be a huge moment for Bran, according to Entertainment Weekly who gave fans a first look at the final season.

Bran Stark and the Night King come face-to-face in Game of Thrones

Will the Azor Ahai prophecy be fulfilled in Game of Thrones season 8?

This is a big part of Game of Thrones mythology and many fans have speculated that this is how the Night King will be brought down. If you’re unsure about the Azor Ahai theory, here is our explainer.

A fresh theory has emerged that the in order to end the Long Night, Jon will have to kill his lover and aunt Daenerys.

The fan theory suggests that if the stoic former Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch is Azor Ahai reborn, then he will have to stab his beloved in the chest and make the ultimate sacrifice.

Others have suggested that Azor Ahai could have been transformed into the Night King.

As always. the body count is high on Game of Thrones and the final season is set to have some devastating losses.

Another theory hints that Jaime Lannister could actually be the saviour of the world: Azor Ahai.

In season seven, Jon told Daenerys: “The Children of the Forest made these a very long time ago.” He was referring to early cave images of the Children of the Forest teaming up with three of the First Men to fight the White Walkers during the first Long Night.

In the scene, the two gaze at a photo of three men – one of whom has a cuff on one hand which has led fans to speculate that Jon, Dany and Jaime represent the First Men.

The fan theory posted on Reddit suggests that Jaime and his golden hand are key to saving the world of man.

According to Reddit user byrd82: “So, the basic gist is that there is a seriously problematic translation error that, once cleared up, will shed light on the identity of the hero.”

The user goes on to say: “According to the Valyrian dictionary, Valyrian words for lord and light are aeksio and onos. However, Valyrian words for gold and hand are aeksion and ondos… the Lord of light is a farce.

“Jaime Lannister – Gold Hand – is the hero and legend of the prophecy.”

The biggest battle will be between ice and fire with suggestions that Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) could be the one to defeat the Night King.

Fans have theorised that Bran could be the “Last Hero” from Game of Thrones folklore.

There’s been a new theory suggesting that it will be Daenerys that kills Jon Snow and not the other way around, therefore fulfilling the Azor Ahai prophecy.

A new theory has emerged that Samwell Tarly (John Bradley) could in fact be Azor Ahai and have to kill his beloved Gilley (Hannah Murray) in order to save the world.

Actress Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, has suggested that Jon Snow could be dealt a cruel death blow in season eight by his beloved Daenerys.

Will Winterfell get attacked in Game of Thrones season 8?

Plot details are under wraps but there have been more suggestions that Winterfell will fall to the Night King.

Fans previously reported a lot of activity around the Winterfell set with photos purporting to show cranes and rigging holding up lights as filming is underway.

While there was no word on the scenes being filmed, Winterfell is going to be having a big role in the final seasonTimesand it seems fairly likely it’s going to come under fire.

According to Game of Thrones fan site Winter Is Coming, there’s been a lot of activity on the Winterfell set with a night shoot involving a battle scene.

Pictures captured by Oakleaf Photography revealed much about the shoot and the company tweeted: “Big night of filming for #GOT8 tonight 26/1 at the Winterfell Set Moneyglass N.Ireland 200+ extras in a big battle scene This was awesome to see tonight.”

What’s more, a video has also emerged from filming and sounds on the audio suggest that the castle is getting attacked by the living rather than the dead, which quashes theories that the White Walkers will try to take Winterfell.

Other images appear to show a new King’s Landing set being built at the Titanic Studios in Belfast, bizarrely though there appears to be a dummy of a construction worker which may have been put there to thrown fans off the scent.

Nevertheless, the new set appears to have a hole in it which could suggest that it will also be attacked. Could this be the White Walkers finally making it to the capital of Westeros and the Red Keep?

Filming resumed on Game of Thrones in January with Jon Snow actor Kit Harington returning to Belfast as work continued on the final run.

According to fan site Watchers On The Wall, there’s been filming at Shane Castle on a significant scene from early on in the season as two major characters talk about Ned Stark’s death as they stand in the crypt at Winterfell.

Sources told the site that the scene wrapped up with a horn being blown, which could potentially signal the arrival of the White Walkers. Then again, it could be too early in the season for that but fans will have to wait and see if there will be a siege at Winterfell when the army of the undead come.

Game of Thrones cinematographer Fabian Wagner also shared a shot from the location on Instagram as the season eight shoot continues.

Will Khal Drogo return in Game of Throne season 8?

Despite being dead, there’s been lots of speculation that Khal Drogo could be back for the final run. He did make an appearance in a dream sequence after all when Daenerys was trapping in the House of the Undying Qarth.

According to one theory, Khal Drogo could be back from the dead but again this is a theory that has been doing the rounds for a while now.

There have been suggestions that Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) could be making a comeback in the final run as Daenerys faces one last tragedy.

Jason Momoa has also been fuelling speculation that his character could be back by posting on social media previously and being pictured with cast members.

There have been more theories that Khal Drogo will be returning from the dead in the final season with Jason Momoa being seen previously in Belfast.

Clarke recently suggested that Khal Drogo could be making a return in a “freaky finale”.

Will Cersei Lannister die in Game of Thrones season 8?

Here are all the biggest theories about the fate of Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones season 8

A brand new theory suggests that Cersei Lannister will die in an ironic blow with many Reddit users speculating about her fate.

There have been theories from fans suggesting that Cersei Lannister could in fact be the Night Queen with suggestions that she would be killed by her enemies and then brought back to life by the Night King to reign by his side.

Along with Cersei becoming the Night Queen, there have been theories about who will kill her with many suggesting that Jaime will be one to do it.

Some fans seem to think there’s a plot hole involving Cersei Lannister, which could spell danger.

Maisie William recently dropped a hint about a sinister plan from the Night King and Cersei, which could see things change drastically.

There have been suggestions that the Iron Bank could betray Cersei Lannister and end up supporting Daenerys instead when she rides to them on a dragon.

One new theory suggests that Cersei Lannister is going to be murdered by a surprising character.

However, others have said that Ironborn leader Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) could murder Cersei in his bid to take her throne.

One eagle-eyed fan also realised that season one foreshadowed Cersei Lannister’s walk of shame in season five, which many viewers may have missed.

There have been suggestions that Jon could kill Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) in the final battle in season eight.

One theory has emerged that the Night King will destroy King’s Landing and Cersei Lannister while the fight goes on in the North.
