BBC Radio 2 EVACUATED: Helen Skelton speaks out during live show as incident breaks

The 35-year-old TV star and radio host took to Instagram to share the news with her 108,000 followers last night. Helen Skelton uploaded a short clip which showed the inside of the studio, with the clock displaying the time 12.19am. “Never been evacuated from a live show before,” she wrote. “All getting back under control and everyone is safe. No need to panic.” One listener tweeted about the incident, saying: “‘Aaaah freak out! Le freak, chest Chic,” the first song choice on the @BBCRadio2 emergency breakdown track (played when @HelenSkelton and to run away during the fire alarm tonight). Amazing!”

Helen shared the post, retweeting it to her 118,000 followers and adding laughing emojis.

Another Twitter user joked the stare was “trying to burn down the studio”.

Meanwhile, a third said: “@HelenSkelton handled your on-air fire alarm like a pro — so calm it was hard to tell if it was real!

“Hope you’re not getting too cold out there!”

“This is adding a bit of excitement to my drive home after the late shift,” a fourth quipped.

Express.co.uk has contacted the BBC asking for comment.

Helen was sitting in for OJ Borg, 39, on his nightly show.

The blonde beauty is best known for presenting the likes of Countryfile and the Olympic swimming coverage.

She is also a mother-of-two with her husband, rugby star Richie Myler, 28.

Helen recently opened up about juggling parenting with her work schedule, telling OK! Magazine: “Nothing gives you so much joy but brings you to your knees as parenting.

“I have two wild boys who jump, run, fight and are the definition of ‘spirited’,” she continued.

“I wouldn’t change them for the world but I would be lying if I didn’t confess it’s exhausting at times.

“I get embarrassed when my kids have meltdowns in public but there are equally a lot of times when they can be ace in public and I am proud of them,” she added.

“To be honest, I have enough going on setting a good example to my kids, being present for them, working and catching up with my hubby to worry about other people.”

Helen and Richie are parents to Ernie, three, and Louis, one.

In addition to the presenter’s demanding job, Richie also plays for England and the Leeds Rhinos.
