Nintendo Direct January 2019: Does THIS show Switch fans will get big games reveal soon?

fans are expecting a Nintendo Direct to drop soon.

Rumours have been circulating that the House of Mario is planning a January 2019 Nintendo Direct for this week.

Nintendo typically holds a Nintendo Direct at the start of each year with a Nintendo Direct Mini being broadcast 12 months ago in January 2018.

This Nintendo Direct took place on January 11, and it was rumoured that the Nintendo Direct for January 2019 was taking place at a similar time.

It’s rumoured that the January 2019 Nintendo Direct is taking place on Thursday January 10.

Nintendo tends to announce the date of their Nintendo Direct presentations in advance so fans had been hoping for confirmation of the Direct today.

However, so far there’s been no official word on the Nintendo Direct January 2019 actually taking place this week.

It could be possible that Nintendo emulates the same tactic from last year when they dropped a Nintendo Direct Mini without warning.

If that’s the case then the Nintendo Twitter channels may simply tweet a link to the Nintendo Direct Mini as soon as it goes live on January 11.

So be prepared for a surprise Nintendo Direct announcement to suddenly emerge on Thursday.

As rumours swirl about a Nintendo Direct for January 2019 there could be one sign that Ninty has something big up their sleeves.

Today Nintendo confirmed the release dates for two big in-house games on Twitter.

Nintendo revealed the release dates for Yoshi’s Crafted World on Switch and Kirby’s Epic Yarn on 3DS.

A short teaser trailer for Yoshi’s Crafted World was also revealed.

These type of release date announcements tend to be reserved for Nintendo Direct presentations.

So maybe Nintendo are getting these announcements out of the way to free up more space in the upcoming Direct for other big news they have planned.

It remains to be seen if that’s the case but there’s plenty of games in the pipeline for 2019 that Nintendo would want to showcase during a Direct.

Nintendo has a number of huge first-party games in the works that are set to be released this year.

These titles include a new Fire Emblem game, Animal Crossing Switch, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and the Gen 8 Pokemon title.

It’s probably too early for the Gen 8 Pokemon to get unveiled.

However, we’ve already seen glimpses of Fire Emblem, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and a teaser for Animal Crossing Switch in previous Nintendo Direct streams.

So these titles seemed primed for a more in-depth look in an upcoming Nintendo Direct.

There are also plenty of other rumoured titles that could get announced during a January 2019 Nintendo Direct.

No in-game footage or pictures of Metroid Prime 4 have been showcased since it was announced back in 2017.

Kicking off 2019 with a Nintendo Direct revealing more on Metroid Prime 4 would be a great way to start the year for Switch fans.

Bayonetta 3 is another eagerly anticipated exclusive game that Nintendo Switch fans are also due an update on.

While there are rumours also of a new Mario Maker title and Super Mario Odyssey DLC which Switch fans will surely be keeping their fingers crossed about.

Other rumoured games that allegedly will be coming to the Nintendo Switch are a brand new Ridge Racer and Star Fox Grand Prix.

It’s also been highly tipped that a version of Persona 5 – arguably the best JRPG of this generation – is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Whether any of these rumoured titles are in the works, or get announced for the Switch during the upcoming Direct, remains to be seen.

While Nintendo Switch fans wait for official confirmation on the Direct one prominent Ninty tweeter remains hopeful.

‘Nintendo Super Fan’ Stealth, who has thousands of followers on Twitter, remains hopeful of a Direct taking place in January.

Stealth tweeted: “Despite the Nintendo announcements today, I still think there is going to be a direct within the next few weeks.”
