John Cena: WWE legend delivers major update on wrestling future ahead of Royal Rumble

Cena wrestles on a part-time basis with Vince McMahon’s promotion due to his intense movie schedule and his advanced age of 41.

According to Ringside News, The Champ is looking to balance both his wrestling as well as acting career and has repeatedly told everyone in WWE that he will not abandon ship.

The 16-time world champion told NBC’s KULR 8: “I’m literally in the search for balance, I am.

“I’ve told everyone in the WWE that I will not abandon ship.

“This is my home, this is my family, and I’m realising how tough it is to balance everything but I’m here, and the best I can do is manage my time the best I can, and really just never leave my family out to dry.

“I have some wonderful opportunities coming up that I’m going to take advantage of, and a lot of that involves me being away from the WWE.”

Cena has recently been promoting the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee that sees him co-starring with Academy Award Nominee Hailee Steinfeld.

The Leader of the Cenation also completed the production of Project X-traction with legendary martial artist Jackie Chan.

The wrestling hero joined WWE Live during the holidays and made various RAW and SmackDown house show appearances.

Cena then made a televised appearance on SmackDown where he teamed up with Becky Lynch and defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas as well as Zelina Vega in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

He followed that up with an appearance on RAW where he announced he will compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble Match on January 27 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Cena said: “Everybody knows that on the road to WrestleMania there is one match that any superstar can grab that golden ticket.

“The golden ticket to a main-event championship match at the Grand Daddy of Them All WrestleMania.

“And that is the Royal Rumble.

“In life nothing is given away, nothing is handed to you.

“You work hard and you earn every inch.

“And I plan on earning my golden ticket.

“Right now I am officially entering myself in this year’s Royal Rumble Match.”
