Chelsea transfer news: Maurizio Sarri will complete second signing this week – reporter

Chelsea are in the market for a new midfielder to allow Cesc Fabregas to leave the club.

Fabregas has agreed to join Monaco in the summer but is keen on switching to the Ligue 1 side this month.

Chelsea will not allow the Spaniard to go until they have got a replacement in for him.

And the two most likely candidates appear to be Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella and Zenit St Petersburg’s Leandro Paredes.

Dorsett claims Barella could cost a fee in the region of £45million.

And he has been told one of the two is expected to become a Chelsea player in the next few days.

“So who are the potential replacements for Chelsea?” Dorsett said on Sky Sports News.

“Well this could be one of them. Chelsea want Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella we’ve been told today, and a deal is close.

“He could cost as much as £45m but Sarri is a big fan.

“And Barella might not be the only midfielder incoming at the Bridge.

“We’ve also been told today the Zenit St Petersburg midfielder Leandro Paredes is on their list and negotiations are well underway.

“Sources have told us that at least one of Paredes and Barella is expected to be confirmed as a Chelsea player later this week.”

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri believes it is time Fabregas left the club to get regular first-team football.

“I can say only my opinion,” Sarri said.

“I don’t know the decision of the club. In my opinion, he needs to go.

“You know very well in this club there is a rule – the renewal of players over 30 is usually for one year.

“He has an offer for two years. I don’t want a very important player as Cesc not happy.”
