Kevin Spacey lawyer: Who is defending Kevin Spacey over groping allegations?

The former House of Cards actor is accused of assaulting the 18-year-old male after plying him with alcohol in a Nantucket bar more than two years ago. Mr Spacey was arraigned on Monday after being charged with one count of felony, indecent assault and battery in December. The next hearing date has been set for March 4, which Mr Spacey does not have to appear for.

In court papers, Mr Spacey indicated he is planning to plead not guilty.

Top criminal defence attorney Alan Jackson is defending the Oscar-winning actor.

Mr Jackson has sought to poke holes in the case, in part by noting that the teenager didn’t immediately report the allegations.

The allegations were first raised in November 2017 by the 18-year-old’s mother, former Boston television journalist Heather Unruh.

Ms Unruh told reporters Mr Spacey had groped her teenage son on July 7, 2016, at the Club Car restaurant and bar, where he worked as a bus boy.

Mitchell Garabedian, an attorney for the victim, said he hoped to encourage other victims of sexual assault to come forward.

He said in an email: “My client is a determined and encouraging voice for those victims not yet ready to report being sexually assaulted.

“My client is leading by example.”

The 59-year-old actor is one of dozens of men in the entertainment industry, business and politics who have been accused of sexual misconduct since accusations against movie producer Harvey Weinstein in 2017 sparked the MeToo movement.
