Anger directed at French President Emmanuel Macron is intensifying amid continued protests on the country’s streets. France is experiencing its seventh week of consecutive street protests, with many demonstrators demanding Mr Macron resign immediately. In one shock incident, a mob of yellow vest protesters stormed the French leader’s holiday home, where he is enjoying a Christmas vacation.
During the altercation yesterday, the French President’s fortress holiday home was stormed by more than 50 members of the anti-government movement.
They arrived at the medieval fort of Bregancon, on the Riviera coast near Toulon and even brought a mock guillotine with them in a clear warning to their President.
The mob stormed the presidential retreat, and clashed with police, who forced the demonstrators back.
Mr Macron, 41, was believed to be at the home at the time, with his wife Brigitte, 65.

Bregancon became a symbol of anti-government protest in the summer, after Mr Macron installed a £30,000 swimming pool there despite a nearby sea.
Local mayor Francois Arizzi said: “It’s madness. For people who want more democracy, they should start by respecting other people’s property
“They have been trying to cross private land, and say they are going to have another go on Friday. This is unacceptable.”
Mr Macron thought he had resolved the crisis in mid-December by announcing a 10 billion euro package of measures to help pensioners and low-paid workers.
However, the protests have continued and, earlier this morning, police resorted to tear gas after violent clashes with protesters in Normandy.
There are growing concerns that the New Year’s Eve annual fireworks display will be marred by huge protests.
The fireworks take place on the Champs-Elysees, which has been the epicentre of repeated violent protests against Macron’s government.
Following the presidential retreat incident, presidential sources confirm that the Macron family had cancelled a ski trip to La Mongie, in the Pyrenees.
